Why a College Democrat Activist Left the Party
Sounds like he should join Objectivist...
“Freedom of the mind requires not only, or not even especially, the absence of legal constraints but the presence of alternative thoughts. The most successful tyranny is not the one that uses force to assure uniformity but the one that removes the awareness of other possibilities, that makes it seem inconceivable that other ways are viable, that removes the sense that there is an outside. It is not feelings or commitments that will render a man free, but thoughts, reasoned thoughts. Feelings are largely formed and informed by convention. Real differences come from difference in thought and fundamental principle.”

Word lover old dino loves Hout's way with words, all of the above sentence and especially how and why he put "delicate myopia" together.
Me dino gonna steal that. Some day I'll write something like "Angry little snowflakes always out shouting people down have a delicate myopia."
Hout's statement:
“[W]hat mattered was not loyalty to party, I found. What mattered was absolute devotion to the religion of dogmatic leftism. Many moderate Democrats just as easily could have been moderate Republicans. But these Democrats were rarely given the same opportunities or chances to succeed as their peers who were further to the left — democratic socialists or social justice warriors.”
reminds me of Leninism, that sanctioned only Lenin's form of Leftist thought. (And I understand there myriads of types of Marxism/Socialism/Communism floating around in those days).
Perhaps Hout will one day understand why one and only one form of Leftism can prevail, at any one time. It is because in order for any type of (generic) Leftism to work, it must be believed by all. There is no room for diversity of opinion; it must of necessity require all to adhere to it.
Just goes to show you that the left is not aware of their own behavior...otherwise, they'd all wake up.
Breitbart, in the semi-autobiography he wrote before his death, said he missed the courses in liberal idiotology because he was out having fun and messing around. If that's what it takes...
Naw...that would be tooooooo easy.
