Responsible for 60 bombings in NYC" and at least four deaths. The current mayor apparently likes his "politics.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio also celebrated Rivera’s freedom on Twitter. “Thank you @POTUS for freeing #OscarLopezRivera,” he wrote in English and Spanish. “Congratulations to all who fought for this day.”

In the 70's and 80"sI lived and worked in NYC on Wall st ...I remember when the bomb went off at lunch time @ Fraunces Tavern 4 or 5 people were killed ,many injured .This was the first terrorist that I saw first hand and was appalled by the caranage to innocents . If that bomb was planted for the dinner crowd I too might be one of the victims .For our president to give this terrorst a pardon is unthinkable .I'm ashamed and outraged at Obama ,his only aim in all this is to once again poke a finger in the eye of the establishment .Friday can't come soon enough .

I remember reading a comment from some one in the Ukraine he said "The USA can recover from Obama's actions, but the real trouble is the people elected him twice"

What's flabbergasting is that in 1999, when Bill Clinton offered Rivera clemency if he expressed regret over his actions, Rivera refused, said he was proud of what he did, and if released would set bombs again. Another land mine for the Trump administration?

Anyone delusional enough to think progressives actually give a damn about the innocent is putting everyone in danger. There is a disease of narcissistic selfishness spreading, and the danger here is that with Rivera's release, young hysterics are being fed the idea that violence in pursuit of extremist goals is OK.

The whole idea of self determination using ones acquired knowledge for self determination and independence is not an idea that any longer exists in the USA. Many people as we are constantly seeing just want their 15 minutes of fame regardless of the consequences to themselves or those needlessly affected by their actions. The real tragedy is the lack of response by the congress to allow the police departments around the country to do their jobs for the best result for their communities. Of course when there is a president who functions as these 15 minute of fame people do what can you expect; exactly what we are seeing. another nail in the coffin of the country.

I was in Puerto Rico twice (Roosevelt Roads) in the mid-80s and both times I was instructed to not wear my uniform off base, not to take rides from locals, and to only take liberty in groups of two or more.

I had a great time in Puerto Rico, and enjoyed my evenings of liberty, I never once felt uncomfortable or threatened. Even so, outside the gate there was always at least two people holding anti-American signs(I think the most was 6).

Based on roughly a 120 hours of liberty time, I do not think the majority of Puerto Rican's harbor any hate toward America or Americans. Still, I do think its high time for that nation to sh*t or get off the pot when it comes to being a state.

Rivera is not indicative of PRs feelings toward the US. The bastard should have been fried years ago rather than sit in jail.

      I agree AJ ,
Years ago my father had won a sales contest with the prize, a trip to Puerto Rico. He was swimming in the sea when he found he was being swept away by a strong rip tide.
Struggling to stay alive he was screaming for help and seeing that no one on the beach could see him he thought he would drown. Then out of nowhere a local who was surfing grabbed his arm and saved him. People are for the most part good everywhere, it is the philosophy of altruism that enables the kakistocrats to lead them to their demise.

By all means give Puerto Rico independence with no foreign aid whatsoever. Let them show they can be more productive than the rest of the Americas.

I have never in my life had a clue as to what purpose setting off bombs in NYC would do to gain Puerto Rico's independence. I do know that one victim was to attend his Ten year olds birthday party , they had a funeral instead .
I guess they liberated a family from the shackles of a bread winner and a loving father.

Holodomor ! Obama and the rest of his ilk would repeat this in the red states if they could.

see Holodomor :In its broadest sense, it is also used to describe the Ukrainian genocide that began in 1929 with the massive waves of deadly deportations of Ukraine's most successful farmers (kurkuls, or kulaks, in Russian) as well as the deportations and executions of Ukraine's religious, intellectual and cultural leaders, culminating in the devastating forced famine that killed millions more innocent individuals. The genocide in fact continued for several more years with the further destruction of Ukraine's political leadership, the resettlement of Ukraine's depopulated areas with other ethnic groups, the prosecution of those who dared to speak of the famine publicly, and the consistent blatant denial of famine by the Soviet regime.

I find it interesting that those who claim their altruistic values (he was fighting to liberate Puerto Rico to socialism) kill far more people than those who would live the life of an objectivist and simply leave others alone. Then all the socialists get on board with celebrations and congratulations for letting some undesirable live amongst those he has harmed.

Better choice of words to describe them, I was trying to indicate how they are hypocrites when it comes to actually helping humankind.

          Hi Chad,
Hypocrites is a perfect description of many leftist's and their agendas are typically fraudulent.
Let us help turn the page and be vigilante against the destroyers of liberty.

Under some of these politicians it seems they would prefer all who that obey the law to be incarcerated and the criminals to run free. In effect that seems to be what is happening, the "democratic" way.

      Hi AJ,
He is hell bent on setting records. The most executive orders. This from the http://Whitehouse.gov.
1 day ago - President Obama's 1,385 commutation grants – which includes 504 life sentences – is also more than the total number of commutations issued by the past 12 presidents combined. And with today's 64 pardons, the President has now granted a total of 212 pardons.
His respect for the laws that incarcerated these criminals is wanting.I am Counting the hours.

One is pardoned for acts prior to the pardon, but not for the future. Perhaps some agencies of law enforcement will keep an eye on each and every one of the 1385 (or however many it's up to by now) and see what the perpetrate next. "You can't prosecute me for this robbery I just did. I have a Presidential pardon!"

From Whitehouse.gov Today, the President granted commutation to 330 individuals. The President has now granted commutation to a total of 1,715 individuals, including 568 people who had been sentenced to life in prison. The vast majority of these men and women are serving unduly long sentences for drug crimes. With today’s action, the President has granted more commutations than any president in this nation’s history and has surpassed the number of commutations granted by the past 13 presidents combined. The President set out to reinvigorate clemency, and he has done just that.
