The Clinton Foundation Is Dead — But The Case Against Hillary Isn't
Interesting, and predictable. What a shame such a wonderful, humanitarian effort is going away. Amazing how hard it is to find in any searches, seems only the "alt right" is interested. The Progressives appear to concerned with hammering Trump now... But seems pretty clear that it was all about selling, and now they have nothing left to sell...
I really feel for the citizens of NYC if she does run. If they did/do elect her they deserve each other.
The article clearly hopes the reader confuses the Clinton Foundation and the CGI.
According to this article, the CGI told its employees in Sept 2016 that it was shutting down due to criticism of potential influence peddling. http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ss...
If I'm reading this correctly, the entire IBD editorial is bunk. Contrary to the main point of the editorial, the Clinton Foundation is not shutting down. It did shut down one of its programs because of accusations of influence-peddling, but that action happened at a time over a month before the election when it looked like Clinton had a good chance of winning.
The Clinton Foundation’s long list of wealthy donors and foreign government contributors during the 2016 elections provoked critics to allege conflicts of interests. Clinton partisans defended the organization’s charitable work, and dismissed claims that it served as a means for the Clintons to sell off access, market themselves on the paid speech circuit, and elevate their brand as Hillary Clinton campaigned for the presidency.
It was the thing that the "partisans" cxould use to say how nice she was and also pay Billy boy millions to stand and blather. With it's death, there is no clean way to do graft for the greedy worms. So the "Foundation" becomes just another tax shelter...
What does this mean? I really you're probably speaking metaphorically or about one aspect of the orgs b/c if one laid off dozens of the staff and closed down while the other operates with over 1,000 employees, they're not in a literal sense the same thing.
Culminating with Hillarys brother getting gold mining rights from the crooked Haitian govt. the first granted in 50 years. Coincident, I think not.
That said I have not seen a president who has rolled up his sleeves and got to work so quickly.
He is making good on some of his promises and it's less than a week. Most promises by candidates never see the light of day. I am cautiously optimistic.
It closed over a month before she lost.
For hours, they came to announce their pledges in front of Clinton — revivalists, suddenly seized by the spirit of charity. Clinton nodded approvingly from center stage as companies and individuals promised to spend their money and resources on projects the foundation would monitor. Their pledges added up to $2.5 billion.
He was doing good. But the foundation was also doing well: Every ticket to the event cost $15,000, in addition to the do-gooder pledge. (Full-time do-gooders, such as activists and nonprofits, got in free.) Many corporations were also encouraged to make separate donations to the foundation. Corporate sponsors who generally paid at least $250,000 were showcased in the conference’s official literature, and they received invitations to get exclusive access at private receptions.
CGI, that was the big money machine for the CF.
The Huma A. Leaked emails show the pay for play much more clearly. The confused liberal wants to challenge the semantics. Avoiding the proof in the pudding.
"The foundation is a massive family enterprise disguised as a charity, an opaque and elaborate mechanism for sucking money from the rich and the tyrannous to be channeled to Clinton Inc.," he wrote. "Its purpose is to maintain the Clintons' lifestyle (offices, travel accommodations, etc.), secure profitable connections, produce favorable publicity and reliably employ a vast entourage of retainers, ready to serve today and at the coming Clinton Restoration."
Except, now there is no Clinton Restoration. So there's no reason for any donors to give money to the foundation. It lays bare the fiction of a massive "charitable organization," and shows it for what it was: a scam to sell for cash the waning influence of the Democrats' pre-eminent power couple. As far as the charity landscape goes, the Clinton Global Initiative won't be missed.
We can test this by seeing if donors give any money during 2017. If it's less than 2016 or near zero or drastically reduced, that fact will support your claim.
