Censorship leads to genocide: After they burn the books, they murder the masses

"While the Internet has not been around in its present form for more than a couple decades, authoritarians and dictators throughout history have attempted to erase history that does not serve them well through mass book burnings, the destruction of founding documents and other records. What generally followed was mass murder."

"Today, this is being accomplished either through Internet censorship or actual shutting down of the Internet by governments. As Hodges noted on his website, quoting a Brookings Institute study, “there were over 50 instances of Internet shutdown and many of the shutdowns were associated with government violence against the citizens of that country” in 2016."

Do you think this will get worse now that ICANN is now under international control?
ICANN: Internet Corporation for Assignment of Names and Numbers.

I looked up ICANN and there is not much good to say about them...look for new domains though: dot sucks, dot gay and a host of other stupid stuff coming our way...maybe even: Dot Genocide?

Hannah Arendt defined totalitarianism as against absolute monarchies and dictatorships as basing itself on being legal. Totalitarians make laws to deprive people of their freedom while dictators take it by force. We are drifting to totalitarianism one law at a time which removes degrees of freedom needed to flourish as a human being. How about dot.totalitarianism?

It's always the left that looks for some wiggle room toward shutting down conservative free speech.
That being other way around in the USA died out with McCarthyism in the middle of the last century.

For the sake of historical correctness I state the following:
The NAZI regime in Germany and the Fascist regime in Italy limited free speech and the free expression of ideas. To violate the restrictions in Nazi Germany was to face the concentration camps or worse. To violate them in Italy was to face prison time.
No one has ever accused either regime of being leftist.

mminnick... I guess you are correct. Why is this so??? Is it because neither regime put on the false face of "doing it for the public good??" Both were as evil as the commies.. I guess the left didn't even want them??

Max control is extreme left and no control is extreme right. Just right of center is where America was intended to be...just enough resistance to keep things from getting out of hand.

The Catholic Church did it for 400 years in Spain and it is leftist. They burned books and people. I think they hold the record for longest period of burnings at the stake "Auto de Fe" after trial with the last in about 1813 from 1492. The Church is leftist and jealous of power over nonexistent souls so it tolerates the secular arm if it does its bidding which means the state must be in control of the actions of the people. Bless the Glorious Revolution of 1688. . Read the "Comprachecos" by Rand. .
