Pay-Per-Glance

First off, I detest Google. I can give them credit for their ingenuity and creativity but I abhor their appetite violate privacy at any cost, solely to make buck. This pay-per-glance patent they applied for and received typifies my concerns and underscores the reason this company is so dangerous in my eyes.

I think the google glass thing is just creepy. There was a Sliders TV show about a world with the haves constantly wired into the computer wearing what looks a lot like google glasses and the havenots locked out.

Holy crap! This is scary. Coincidentally enough, I'm reading 1984. I think we need to figure out a way to keep up with the times & tech without subjecting ourselves to privacy infringement.

The trouble is people are joyously accepting the technology (even paying a heftyprice for it!) and eagerly putting their most private information into the public cloud.

I totally agree with you. I have no sympathy for the narcissistic people who put their naked pictures and sex tapes on their computers and cell phones, then it suddenly ends up on youtube and the like. If you didn't put the pictures on your computer, the hacker wouldn't have found it and published it. Take some responsibility for your own stupidity people. Say it forget it, post it regret it.

Scary stuff, in the wrong hands!

Some would say that it is already in the wrong hands (read: Google)...and I would have to agree.

    Thanks for posting!

Sadly, I have to agree. You can pervert this for-profit scheme to enforce a morality law. Consider, it becomes illegal to look at another mans wife or too look too long at a woman (like it is in Islam). These glance glassed could, since they are web-connected, determine who the woman is, whether she is married, and assess a fine or punishment for looking at her too long. There are a ton of seriously screwed up applications for this technology. What about my story "Public Welfare"? What if the government could monitor what overweight people look at and penalize them for coveting something they are not allowed by law to have. Slippery slope.

Who, in their right mind, would want anyone to know all of their idle thoughts. This is potentially the ultimate invasion of privacy. I can honestly say I have had a few thoughts during my lifetime that I could have been arrested for. Hasn't everyone? Tracking implant and a google eye glass implant. End of story.
