This sounds a lot like a microcosm of our whole society. I don't know the validity of the claims, but it seems you just don't all pack up unless there is something behind it to cause you too. Having seen how people in small communities who grab some power then try to manipulate and force their will on others, I am tending to believe the cops side here....
