As the "assaulted" prof's union retaliates, gutsy students are now under the gun at Orange Coast College for capturing, posting freaked-out prof's wild, classroom assertions.

The instructor has the freedom to speak his mind. The student may record and play it for the general public. If the teacher is so proud of his rant, he should post it himself. If he can't take the heat from the public exposure of his actions he should not do it.
If the teachers comments are only for the indoctrination/intimidation of the student, then the student was correct in filming and posting the attempt at brain washing and intimidation on the part of the teacher. We live in a society that, at one time, favored the ree and ready exchange of ideas . apparently the teacher doesna't live in that thought world.
And the school administration supporting him is even more unacceptable.

Absolutely!!! If she really believed in what she was spewing out of her mouth, I'd think she would thank the student for helping spread the word. These people know that their only reasoning is for some personal gain or entitlement whether it be real or imagined. Their brains can not conceive that someone else's ideas could actually be good for the country, and frankly, they don't care. Those that do not want what they teach to be known should not be allowed to teach, period. The same goes for what is preached in churches, synagogues, and mosques. How can we have freedom of speech if we're not allowed to hear it?

Us deplorables need to speak up against the liberal nonsense. As Francisco says in AS- it IS a war out there and we need to take sides. Down with political correctness.

As a "recovering" college professor my self I have seen the powerful influence liberals have over their students. When it becomes more important to teach what to think than how to think our education system has betrayed the future.

The clip seems reasonable, not a freaked-out tirade, even though I don't agree with it. Politics is show business for ugly people, and the professor takes it way more seriously than I do. "Terrorism" "Civil War" I'm not complacent and thinking civil war could never happen, but it's not happening yet.

While the leftist anti democracy professor offers coping skills to the snowflakes for the defeat of the evil hag gorgon. What a typical hypocrite.

Glik v. Cunniffe, 655 F.3d 78 (1st Cir. 2011) is a case in which the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit held that a private citizen has the right to record video and audio of public officials in a public place....." I say this applies to a "pubic official" (getting paid by tax dollars) and the students should pursue it. I have a "handout" in my truck explaining it to police officers when I start videoing them doing their duty when the protest or tell me it's illegal: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glik_v....

I will admit to not having read this article up front. With that said I do remember back when I was in college having to get the Profs permission to film anything in class first. Therefore if the student didn't receive said permission the student is in the wrong.

I am in no way agreeing with whatever the Liberal Prof had to say. Just pointing out a rule that I remember from my college days.

Unfortunately, for the schools and professors, unless they are 100% private, they cannot stop anyone from capturing their classes either through video or audio means. In essence, if they take one penny of government money, their classrooms are consider public property for discussions. And they have no more expectation of privacy than someone on a soapbox in a public square.

The other problem I have with this, is this prof is off topic for the class. If this were a political studies or history class then this is appropriate classroom discussion. However, this is a human sexuality psychology class (another reason our schools aren't doing their jobs as this is akin to a women's or minority studies course that are essentially useless in the real world). How is Trump being elected relevant to this subject? Is the prof afraid that as soon as Trump takes office, there is going to be an explosion of sexual disfunction and deviancy that these psychology students will need to combat? I am sorry, (and as much as I believe colleges and universities have gone off the reservation by offering courses that have little relevance to real life), but I don't believe anyone is paying to hear any professor's opinions that have no relevance to the course. If you want to discuss your opinions find or create an open forum for those discussions elsewhere on campus, not in the classroom with a paying captive audience.

While I completely agree with your 2nd point. My understanding of the classroom is that without the Profs approval for recording it is illegal to record him. Much as it is illegal to record a musical performance at a concert, even if the concert is at a public venue. While I was in college I often recorded lectures but I always had to ask permission first, only ever had one prof refuse permission.
