Amazon goes Brick and Mortar - with a twist

I'm curious how the sensor-based pay is going to work. Wal-Mart piloted RFID tagging years ago, but the costs to the manufacturers - especially on ultra-low margin (and perishable) items like groceries pushed the prices too high to compete.

What is also to note is the store's location (Seattle) - where the minimum wage has effectively priced people out of jobs - including in this store. Lots of factors going into this...

    No, I would not trust Amazon's computers to bill me correctly. Not in this lifetime. Kroger doesn't get it right some small part of the time and that is with me watching every item being scanned. No responsibility on the part of the buyer will definitely mean higher profits for the seller though.

      I think that part of what they are relying on is that customers who don't pay with cash at the time of purchase tend to purchase more things and more expensive things than otherwise. And when its after-the-fact, its pretty tough to argue charges.
