How would a Pat Buchanan appointment as SOS be viewed by Objectivists?

I have read many of Buchanan's writings (e.g. those that recently often accompany Rasmussen updates) and heard him argue with interventionists/internationalists on McLaughlin, and I find little that contradicts the writings of Ayn Rand on international relations.

Admittedly, Buchanan has Christian sentiments if not beliefs, but weighed against Romney (who appears to be far more of an international interventionist), doesn't Buchanan compare favorably? (Personally, I would have preferred Giuliani as AG and Sessions, if not Buchanan, as SOS--but I'd like to know the objections others have to Buchanan as SOS).

A slightly different question: How would a Pat Buchannan appointment as SOS be viewed by Americans in general?"
Most Americans have forgotten his run agains Bush 41 and his relative success in some of the early voting states is one of the defining moments of that election. It showed just how weak 41 was and emboldened Billy Boy in his quest for power and other things best unmentioned.
