What a damned joke.
The *only* thing which will restore *my* faith in this government is a military coup to restore the Constitution.

Totally agree with you, Eudaimonia. This government is attacking the military in every way. I stand with them, defending our freedom is essential to our countries survival. Could never understand how any citizen of the US could have cast one vote for a president who would not allow a military person in any of his pictures while running for office or would not put an American flag on his lapel... so here it is, out in the open, he hates freedom and our country and has shown it in all of his actions. Benghazi was a tell tale of the in power philosophy and frankly, I am fed up.

Oh, man. I hope she runs. All any opponent has to do is show a clip from her faux-apology commercial that she ran in Pakistan condemning that ‘vile-video’; then, show a map of how the protests blossomed and the fires reached around the globe the day after it aired.

Thumbs down on that. I agree that former Secretary of State and former Senator and former First Lady of both the United States and the state of Arkansas is planfully competent in her evil. I believe that Pres. Barack Obama actually thinks that he is doing the right thing and is acting morally. He is just wrong in all of his choices. I believe that Hillary Clinton is motivated solely by power.

Remember that she started off in Youth for Goldwater. She did not have a "Road to Damascus" moment at Vassar. She just assessed the likelihoods of ascendant power and realigned herself with the winning side. President Obama gives reasons for his actions. We can disagree with the actions and the reasons easily enough. If Hillary Clinton has any ideology, she does not articulate it very well. Contrast her with Jeane Kirkpatrick, who advanced a liberal policy agenda for conservative reasons. You might not like the mix, but she knew what the goals were and had reasons for wanting to achieve them. From what I have seen these almost 20 years Hillary Clinton's only policy goals relate to Hillary Clinton's place in the world.

The thumbs down was for the military coup.

We have a civilian government for a reason. Our tradition of electing military leaders to political office comes from the paradigm of General George Washington. But in his time the city of Cincinnati was founded by veterans who returned to the farm, following the example of L. Quinctus Cincinnatus, the (constitutional) dictator of Rome.

Would you call for a dictatorship to restore the Constitution? That would be a contradiction. So is calling for a military coup.

Once they have power, they will not give it up. You will have no rights. Military justice is to justice as military music is to music. The only reason that soldiers have rights is that CONGRESS writes the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Officers carry side arms not to protect themselves from the enemy, but to shoot soldiers who disobey.

"Would you call for a dictatorship to restore the Constitution? That would be a contradiction."
So, the military Oath to defend the Constitution against enemies foreign and domestic is just lip service?

"Once they have power, they will not give it up."
      And you know this, how?

      "You will have no rights."
As opposed to what I have now in the current Marxist coup I am living under?

"Military justice is to justice as military music is to music."
Your arguments seem to stem from a hatred of the military.
You are welcome to that hatred, but my assertion stands.

      They swore an oath.
If they do not uphold it, then they are complicit in the coup which has already taken place.

"When I see the worsening degeneracy in our politicians, our media, our educators, and our intelligentsia, I can’t help wondering if the day may yet come when the only thing that can save this country is a military coup." -- Dr. Thomas Sowell

Exactly as I was thinking. Oath Keepers was formed under this idea. Those who swore to uphold and defend the Constitution, military, law enforcement etc., will stand to defend it. It will take a lot of super glue and scotch tape to repair the shredding it's been through.

Revolution or coup? Our revolution was essentially a military coup. George Washington could have been a dictator, but chose a more noble course. Would a military coup restore the Constitution? There is great risk involved since there are so few like George Washington. The better question is "Could" a military coup restore the Constitution? Yes, but again there is risk. I suggest the better course may be mass defiance, or states banding together for nullification of all that offends the constitution.
I am from a military family and have many associates who are ex-military and most tell me if it came to that, they would defend the constitution not the usurper. I realize this is anecdotal but it does give pause...

I agree working through the states is possibly less risky. Why do we skip the step of Constitutional Convention? The military, while filled with honorable men and women, has become very politic at the top. Let's not forget those appointed by the current administration. The process of coup will mean some chaos. With the military in charge, how do we think the military responds to chaos best? There will be initiation of force against the people, not just the traitors running states and DC. However, I am completely for States protecting their sovereignty. I do wonder though...

For along time I feared the notion of a constitutional convention because it seemed likely that the new document may be worse. However since we now live in a nation where the constitution is only employed when it reinforces the progressives agenda (albeit a distortion) it doesn't seem like there is as much to lose...
I would prefer the states reassert themselves and force the issue through nullification. If enough states banded together I believe the american people and military would not have the stomach to start another bloody civil war. At that point many would consider such orders unlawful...

you get 2/3 of the states and I believe that is a big enough step to cow the ruling class. First of all, it uses the rule of law already protected in the Constitution. That is much better than resorting to outside the law. Once you do that, it makes it hard to get people to respect the law again. Hard to stuff the genie in the bottle. as you say, a civil war is bloody and long. Before the civil war it would have been much cheaper and no loss of life to buy every slave from the slave holders than have the war. We start a coup, which side is Russia, China going to come down on?
In order for a coup to be truly successful, you would need most all of the people to believe that the govt we have is being crammed down our throat. In fact, Pinochet fits that model.
