Fashion designer refuses to dress Melania Trump

As near as I can tell, Mrs Trump never approached her for any "Fashion" assistance or clothes. Her claim to fame is she provided some dresses etc to Michelle Obama.
Mrs. Trump has enough fashion sense to select her own clothing and accessories without the need to patronize a little know French designer.
(Yes I know this has nothing to do with Objectivism or Ayn Rand. I just thought it was funny that she was turning down something she had not even been considered for.)

Soon to include a new line of women's clothing inspired by the first lady. Better buy some Walmart stock.

One thing about Walmart, there's a wide assortment of things you know for certain are in that store.

I do remember during the 2008 election Sarah Palin had them stop the campaign bus so she could get some diapers at Walmart.

LOL! Walmart? That would be a sight!
And a mind-blower for the Secret Service!
Bet Walmart's share price for stock would go up a tad, though.

It could have to do with objectivism in that you can not force someone to produce against their will. Unless you're a Christian baker, then screw you.

After seeing some of the godawful freak costumes she conned Michelle Obama into wearing, I don't think she had a prayer of an invitation from Melania in the first place.

    Winner Winner Chicken Dinner...

And those people call US "imperialist"... and expect the world not to see the contradiction?

Typical Contradictions of the self-righteous left...

    (a) "As one who celebrates and strives for diversity, individual freedom, and respect for all lifestyles, I will not participate in dressing or associating in any way with the next First Lady,”

Sounds like she only respects lifestyles of her own choosing - which is FAR from "all".

Of course, it is bolstered by the imperial "we"...

    (b) “The rhetoric of racism, sexism, and xenophobia unleashed by her husband’s presidential campaign are incompatible with the shared values we live by.”

My guess is this is a publicity ploy to bolster her design business amongst the lefties. It seems to me that, up until now, Melania has done quite well in the designer clothes department without having this twit dress her, so I can't see why this is even an issue.

Especially since this dressmaker was relatively unknown prior to the Obama's hiring her...

My granddaddy would have said "She seems a bit big for her britches"... I would tend to agree.

After reading, all I can answer with is "So?". As if she's the only person out of 350 million in the US that can pick out a dress.

She can get a job as a spokesperson for J.Crew.

Near as I can tell, inclusiveness means just that. If you believe that clerks should be allowed to refuse lawful marriage licesnses to gays, then you believe this woman has no right to refuse service to the First Lady, who appears to want to focus on bullying as one of her causes. On the other hand, if you think the constitution allows a clerk to refuse service because of their religious
beliefs, then you must support, indeed praise, the right of a designer to not work for someone who's views they see as contrary to their beliefs. You cannot separate them. I believe Objectivists should uphold the constitution and the rule of law. Therefore, if this woman is a professional designer, she has no right to refuse service to the First Lady. She should do the work professionally. Her personal beliefs should no enter into it.

One could ask her to back up her statements with examples, but why bother? She should just be ignored and fall back into obscurity where she belongs.

She should sue. Just like a gay person, all should be compelled to provide service...or no one should!

She will make a good first lady, and will represent America with class, for a change.

That same fashion designer should be grateful she's not designing pantsuits for an evil hag with a crabby rep for mistreating White House staff as a previous First Lady.
Oh, well, dressing up such a sweet person as Melania shall provide a wonderful opportunity for someone far more deserving.

Big deal. The designer probably thinks this attitude will get her points from the liberal crowd. But Mrs. Trump is a billionair so she has dozens of designers who will be happy to make clothing for her. I am sure Mrs. Trump probably laughed at this woman's stupidity.

This fashion designer must be a Hillary supporter and is taking sides. WE should take sides too and not patronize Hillary supporters either. Francisco in AS was right- its a war and we must take sides against collectivism

You might trade in your spell checker for a new model. I hear that the 2017 model has automatic translation. :-]

I think she should be castigated, threatened and fined hundreds of thousands of dollars for refusing to provide a business service to Mrs. Trump. This assumes the governments involved want to be consistent with fining and destroying businesses of Christian business persons.
