Elections and Hurricanes

Out of all the factors regarding Hurricane Sandy it will be the fact that Obama voters will be more concerned of getting their power back on than voting on next Tuesday. I think some of those hard core blue states are going to go red. I've been up close and personal to several hurricanes and New England will still be fixing things during Christmas. They won't be ready by next Tuesday to turn on the water let alone do their part in an election, or even show up to vote when they are more worried about the insurance company showing up to estimate the cost of a new roof.

    I think he'd rather have less time between him and the election. The longer it takes the more the truth about Libya will come out. (How anybody can't see already what the truth is on that topic is a ginormous mystery. Mega-Denial...or some other mental illness.)

    Will Obama use the storm as an excuse to postpone the election? I know he doesn't have the constitutional authority but when has that stopped him?

    Who cares if he wins his home state in the Europe envy New England land of socialists--I mean Democrats. All that matters is that he wins--which he will. 53% to 47%.

    Then maybe you should get out more. A couple of Democratic friends of mine went canoeing just a week ago.

    Maybe, and maybe not. I've seen polls that go both ways. But if you can point to any poll showing there's enough of a motivational difference to make up for Romney being almost twenty points behind in his home state (!) please point me to it.

    I'd hate to have to count on it. If you take all of New England, and add Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Delaware, over the last five Presidential elections, exactly one state went red once. And the Democrats I know know how to canoe.

    A Republican will hop in a canoe and paddle to a voting booth to cast his vote...and dem will wait for somebody to bring them a ballot with an apology for the inconvenience.

    I think you're getting carried away. The floods won't discriminate against, say, Massachusetts' Democratic voters and not Massachusetts' Republican voters. They may depress total turn out, but that doesn't make the result swing one away or the other enough to undo the very strong Democratic majority.
