This must be about supporting illegal immigration--not the stated "immigration" in the article.

Oh, by the way, being a crusty old dino, me just gots to say it ~ Goo goo!

They certainly are going to need those safety pins to hold up their old-fashioned diapers. I guess they have never grown up past potty training. If you babies want to be truly safe, use a strip of Velcro instead. When did we devolve from the "Land of the free, home of the brave" to the land of the dependent and home of the thumb-sucking crybabies?

Yesterday's rebel without a cause wore a leather jacket and white T-shirt, James Dean-style. Today's sucks a pacifier.
In the tradition of bobby sox, madras shirts or "X" hats, pacifiers are becoming the latest teen craze in some places. The pacifiers are worn on a string or chain around the neck and are traded like class rings or friendship bracelets. Some educators worry the baby accessory is really a way of advertising gang ties or drug use. Others see it as a harmless - and largely pointless - craze.
"These kids need to create symbols of a belongingness to a social . . . group, and this is another one of those," said Jim Peters, principal of Greenfield Middle School. He said about 20 of the school's 590 students tote pacifiers.
Among them is sixth-grader Colin Drouin, who said the mouthpiece helped him kick a pack-a-day smoking habit.
"You have something in your mouth. It just does it," Drouin said.
Some are alarmed by the fad, which developed after the release of the movie "Boyz N the Hood." The film about Los Angeles-area gangs includes a character who sucks a pacifier.
Sage Valley Junior High School in Gillette, Wyo., banned the pacifiers last year and sent out a notice saying: "Pacifiers are associated with drugs, gangs and infants. None of these associations is appropriate for junior high school."
"It's just a distraction in class," said Principal Dan Espeland. "You're trying to get a question-and-answer session going, and you have students with pacifiers in their mouths."
Some aficionados say pacifiers help them relax. Jon Unaitis, an 11-year-old at North Parish Elementary School in Greenfield, said he just likes "how it goes `cheet, cheet," when you suck it.

They should all be made to do 2 years in the marines or the Israeli army. OK, I'll go easy on them, boot camp in the regular army. What a bunch of weenies! What is happening to America?
Never mind, I know what's happening. Let's see what happens under Donny J.

If they had been drafted into the Marines back in 1969, they'd be mustered half insane out for crybaby not being able to hack it.
Watch the first half of Full Metal Jacket to see what old dino went through.
The only thing that is not accurate is not enough black actors playing recruits and drill instructors.
And no, I never saw a recruit forced to march with a thumb in his mouth and with his trousers around his ankles.
Not saying that could not happened, though. .

That was played by one of the great character actors, Vincent d'Nofrio. He has played the Bug in "Men In Black" He was a great villain in the first year of the "Daredevil" series, and was recently in "The Magnificent Seven."
But you're right, They'd never last 2 weeks in Paris Island.

I believe a couple year stint of Military or border patrol, mixing these young folks together from around the country would do a world of good for them and to get some out of the gangs.

I agree and I don't agree. Upon further consideration, I think that they should be tried and sentenced to a special boot camp just for them. Why make the brave volunteers of our military put up with these soiled brats?

            Old Joke:
            Madam, your child is spoiled.
No he isn't, he always smells that way.

              LOL! Thanks, I needed that.
To answer your question, the brave volunteer could use a decoy distraction from screaming drill instructors.
No, I take that back. The whole group is often punished for one guy screwing up.
Please pay attention to only the first line of this reply.

I think I am going to do what some of the people I am subscribed to on Twitter and YouTube claim to be doing. I am going to wear a safety pin and if one of these whiny babies come running, I will eviscerate them mercilessly. In other words, become the opposite of their vaunted safespace they so desire. Tell them to grow up, face reality and quit using identity politics to frame their every interactions with people. And maybe, just maybe, I will get through to these asshats. I won't hold my breathe though.

I feel as if I am awaking from an insane nightmare. The left has taken the US into a Political Correct nightmare fantasy that distorts the world like a carnival hall of mirrors. The culture has become a reeducation camp intended to teardown our every belief and remake us into the Lefts New Human (must not be sexist). The leading edge of leftists do not want to stop there and are aiming to reduce humans to the equivalent of bacteria. The line goes, all life is equal so everything should be considered in any action. Eboli have rights too. Being traditionally ethical became immoral and what use to be a mature adult attitude became racist, sexist, homophobic, etc, etc, etc. The list PC accusations grows like the cancer, killing self respect and confidence wherever it finds them. . The sheer volume of Leftist whining wore everyone down into perpetual anger and fear of retaliation for some imagined fault.

Then came Trump. Finally someone came forward with enough presence to stand up for rationality. Trump is everything the Leftists have been ranting against and he gave us a chance to stand together against their evil. Every time the left created some failing that was “disqualifying,” there was another chance to attack PC,

It's supposed to be in opposition to the sexism, racism, homophobia, and general mean-spirtedness. There's no reason Trump supporters cannot adopt it if they desire. This article buys into Trump critics' claim that Trump is primarily about bigotry. If you accept their claim, then the pin is indeed anti- Trump.

People say it means "safety", but if I wore one it would also mean danger for bigots.

I see in photos and videos of protesters carrying signs that equate Trump to racism.
Their race card is being pulled big time and their silly safety pins is a wink wink nudge nudge acknowledging symbol for it.

"protesters carrying signs that equate Trump to racism. "
Even worse, if you talk to them some of them think wanting less gov't is tied to racism.
"Their race card is being pulled big time and their silly safety pins "
Again, Trump supporters should join them, maybe a red safety pin or something, to bust the claim that support for Trump is tied to bigotry. That lets them blow away the race-card narrative you describe.
