Hi Khaila, I hope you are well. I have to tell you, I think Yaron Brook is completely out to lunch on the Trump phenomenon. In fact, after listening to this episode, I posted the following in the comments of the Blog Talk radio episode:

" I just listened to this episode and was stunned by how badly Mr. Brook is mis-interpreting both the cause and the meaning of this election. I also found it interesting how he kept using emotional language such as "I'm horrified," "I'm scared," etc. and then claimed that Trump's win was due to the emotionalism of an un-thinking electorate. That's pretty rich. This outcome was actually a very positive thing for those of us who love reason, freedom and capitalism. After suffering through eight years of the first truly anti-American President we've ever had, electing Hillary Clinton would have been the final nail in our coffin. It was a positive thing from both a political and a sense-of-life perspective. If Mr. Brook would like a clue, here it is: enough of us still agree with Jefferson's sentiment that Americans "were not born with saddles on their backs" so a "favored few could ride them booted and spurred." This was proof positive that America's rebellious spirit is still alive and that's something he of all people should be celebrating. "
I just do not agree with his analysis and I think he's completely missing the big picture. As far as Trump's reasons, his stated intention is to make America great again. Don't really see anything nefarious in that. At bare minimum, he buys us time, and with the right influences we could actually make big strides in the right direction. I made my own case for Trump over Hillary with several articles on the election at http://americanideals.info

Which matters more the intent or the result. if 50 years from now only the result matters, the the intent behind the result shouldn't. If the Intent matters more than the result it should. It is almost impossible to juge the impact of intent as opposed to the impact of result.
I do believe that intent matters and that results also matter. Good can of bad/evil intent but it is not likely to do so. Bad usually results in bad. Good intent sometines results in bad results but there is no way to determine the results of intent except upon the results.
There are many that say things done from self interest or for selfish reasons are bad but that is not always or even mainly true. Creators create because they want to, they have a drive to create (see The Fountainhead), to build to soar. This is not bad in and of itself. It does lift humanity to higher and higher heights.
I don't know President Elect Trump reasons and motives, I'm not real sure of what Hillary's were either, but motives can be derived from actions (sometimes) and his actions seem externally focused while hers seemed internally focused.
