Not even 24 hours later, they are setting the stage, and all three will claim victory. Hillary will say it is proof she did nothing wrong , Obamanation will say he fixed it and Trump will claim it's best (even though a couple weeks ago he said he would appoint a special prosecutor)...oh well...

Of course we can't have the political strife associated with prosecuting Clinton. Oh and what about Holder and the Head of the IRS and the Head of the EPA that dump toxic water into the Colorado River, just to name a few off the top of my head..

Dale, agree 100%. There are times for compromise, and times to have examples. There was way too many things gone bad, too many 5th amendments, too many "I forgot" to not need some now. I would lean towards letting the facts drive the bus, and then tell the rioters, "You too can be next". Enough is enough, time for a lot of people to grow up and accept reality and responsibility.

Obama's calculus for whether or not to pardon the Clintons (Plural of course) is based on how directly the corruption connects to him.

To counterbalance, if he pardons them, nobody will pardon him.

Indeed, I am thinking there was w quid pro quo involved and he just got screwed. I am also betting the lights will burn 24/7 as they seek to shred, delete, scour and burn, every possible record that would illustrate the crap they have done in the last 8 years. There is always the 5th amendment thing, they seem fairly familiar with it. That is why Trey Gowdy is needed, he cuts through all their crap manipulation of it.

Obama’s main concern is with his legacy, which will be much better served by pardoning Hillary than by letting her go to trial. Can you imagine having to see numerous members of his administration, day after day for months or years on end, giving open testimony about the inner workings of the State Department and the White House during his tenure as President? A trial of Hillary would be even more disruptive than a trial of Nixon would have been, if Ford hadn’t pardoned him.

While Obama can pardon Clinton, and it might even be a good idea, Trump should stay far away from the issue. He should appoint a good attorney general (I like Rudy) and tell them to instruct the career investigators to do their job unhindered by political interference. If they find sufficient cause to have a grand jury, appoint a special prosecutor. Someone that Democrats would respect.

While running for high office should not excuse crimes, we don't want to remotely appear to persecute our political opposition.

Re: " Hillary will say it is proof she did nothing wrong . . . " I don't think a presidential pardon will let Hillary off the hook, as far as public perception is concerned. (It certainly didn't work for Nixon.) If Hillary did nothing wrong, why would she need to be pardoned? And even if she is never charged, there are likely to be numerous Congressional investigations into the Clinton Foundation, investigations that might involve many of her associates and family members. Numerous books will be written about this election, keeping her issues fresh in the minds of the public. This saga is far from over.
