Will this give an excuse to cancel the election?

Because this might effect the election, will it give Obummer an excuse to 'postpone' the election until it all gets sorted out? I've been predicting he would come up with some excuse to stay in office and this may be it :-(

    It would take an act of congress to halt the election. In fact it would take an Constitutional amendment to do so.
    I don'ts think the country would stand for any such action of the part of Oduma.
    The mere act of trying to supersede the election could lead to armed conflict and even Civil war. I don't think he is that stupid, but I could be wrong.

      The only problem with your argument is that for one, Obama feels he has power over the Congress ( phone and pen), and two, I think he wouldn't mind a civil war. What a great way to increase the power of the Government.

      Oh...o is the epitome of stupid...
      I'd worry about all those people having to vote all over again, (5 or 6 states are allowing early voters to now change their vote if they wish)...will they bother, will the left except defeat because they screwed up and hung on to hiltery way to long?
      If there is mass chaos...it'll come from the left.

      The Constitution gives Congress the power to set election day, so long as it is the same throughout the US. And I see nothing there that prevents Congress from changing it at the last minute. But the term-end dates -- Jan 3 for Congress and Jan 20 for the Pres&VP -- are fixed in the 20th Amendment. Thus if they tried to delay the election past early December (giving just enough time for the vote counters to certify the results), I expect the Supreme Court would try to nullify that action. Whether the Court would be obeyed is a harder question (it may well be too late, just as it was too late to comply with Bush v. Gore).

      This close to election day, I believe if Hillary is indicted, the election goes ahead with her on the ballot. Then if she wins but becomes ineligible as a convicted felon, her pledged electors will have an interesting choice to make. Being limited to the top three popular-vote getters (unless Congress enacts a law allowing someone to appoint a substitute candidate, a power given them by Section 2 of the 24th Amendment but never yet exercised!), Hillary's electors might very well choose Johnson over Trump. Of course, if Trump is the ringer I think he is, they'll just choose Trump.

        It seems highly unlikely she will be charged with a crime, much less convicted before electors vote in December.

    Obama has made such a mess of things that the GOP has been trying to throw this election at the Democrats. I don't think that the Dems actually want to win, either.

    I'm looking for a landslide for Trump (which is what it will take to squeak by) followed by a topsy-turvy transition (will the Clintons flee the country?). After the inaugural address, I'd like him to order an investigation into the rigging of the ballot process anyway so as to root it out in preparation for the next election. He'll name a new AG and that would be a great first order of business.

    An, even more "entertaining" story, in the New Yorker, was that of Queen Elizabeth's offer to restore British rule over the United States.

    Considering our two leading candidates (and the average intelligence of our youth), I wouldn't be surprised if she would get a sizeable percentage of the "write-in" votes...

    Obama, to date, has gotten away with more than he should have. However, this would be going so far out that even Mr. Smooth Talker couldn't get away with it. Comey's break with Lynch is the first sign by a high official that they've had the corruption as far as they can tolerate it. He's not alone and he knows it.
    We shall see what happens on the follow-through.

      If Comey were alone, he'd be dead or locked away now. He's got help. Well-placed help.

      If Comey "has an accident" at this point, I don't think anyone or anything could prevent an armed insurrection and the violent overthrow of the current regime.

      Seriously ... what reason would there be for us to hold back any longer?

          The "Clinton/Obama crew" is likely history. Obama’s people are expressing confidence in FBI Director Comey and calling him a “man of integrity”. I'm sure Hillary will remember that if she wins. If she loses, it's probably every Dem for himself/herself.

            Hillary has "people." Her people dug up bad news about Bill's female accusers, they harassed and "interviewed" persons to convince them that saying things about him or her from first hand knowledge will lead to a lot of bad things to happen to them. There are women who were 19, 20, 21 back then who are still afraid to come forward. The same with any opposing politicians in her own party. If she is defeated, they won't break up the group but they may find another figurehead to rally behind. They'll be more careful next time. That's the reality of how Obama got the nomination. It was to keep Hillary out, but gave her the Sec. of State as a lollipop to suck on, which she totally screwed up.

    Could easily be. This group of thieves will try anything. I say if she doesnt get elected, he will pardon her like Ford did with Nixon in advance of any conclusion of the investigation. He might even do it IF she wins the election- in national interest.

    The election process will never be stopped. It is the deceit that convinces people they have some say in what happens to their freedoms when in fact they only say they have in which socialist will be elected to continue the charade of a constitutional republic while driving the country into the swamp of a socialist communist democracy where you can choose your leader to hell.

    Here's the way it could play out: the FBI relents to pressure and makes public the possible criminal charges against Clinton and others that may result based on a preliminary review of the emails discovered on Wiener's laptop, as well as sworn testimony from Huma Abedin; the DNC moves to replace Clinton on the ballot, asking for a delay in the election; Congress refuses to act on the delay request, and Trump wins in a landslide; the left acts to stage mass riots across the country, giving Obama an excuse to institute martial law and postpone the transfer of power, possibly permanently, declaring Trump a danger to national security.

    Me dino has repeatedly received mail that states O the Great and Powerful Divider plans to extend his Reign of Error especially if the evil hag gets beat.
    Of course, in each and every letter a donation was requested so money sent could somehow stop Hope And Change from misbehaving like that.
    Each time I decided not fund someone's Malibu mansion, Caribbean cruise, tour of Muslims in France or however such con artist enrichment will be spent.

    I doubt that Obama would even try to cancel or postpone the election. His "place in history" that he seeks to enhance would be completely undone by such a move. The results of a rescheduled election would likely be even worse for the Democrats than the results of the upcoming one.

    Plus, the Obamas and the Clintons don't really get along, so the Prez might be willing to absorb a Clinton loss now for the chance at a victory by one of his buddies in 2020. (Relevant to this theory, I haven't yet heard Obama weigh in on Friday's bombshell by the FBI director.)

      I doubt the President will make any public move concerning this. He may work behind the scenes to try to spin a more positive narrative through intermediates. But unless he can shift blame and seem to be unbiased in his actions, he won't intercede as that could dig Hillary in deeper.

      He may try to speed it up so that Hillary gets indicted, then pardon her as he walks out the door (like Hillary's husband did for one of his major supporters in 2001).

        A pardon is in the works. BUT, that will cement Obama's legacy as the president who let Hillary off the hook, and stuck Snowden in Russian hell for doing far less.

        If the investigation continues beyond Obama's term in office, I don't think any pardon of his would cover potential crimes brought to light after the new President takes over.

          That is a possibility, but he can have the Justice department indict her on any crimes she could possibly be charged with, then he just needs to pardon her on those charges as he walks out the door of the White House for the last time. This essentially short circuits the investigation, and ends it as it becomes an exercise in futility to continue to investigate her for a crime she has been pardoned for. This is what President Ford did for President Nixon who wasn't tried for his involvement in Watergate.

            I'm not sure that a presidential pardon could not extend to unindicted acts that occurred prior to the issuance of the pardon. Nixon had not been indicted when he was pardoned by Ford, if I recall correctly. In any event, I doubt he will issue a pardon.
