This reminds me of a Thomas Jefferson quote that he wanted on the seal of the country.

"Rebellion to Tyranny is Obedience to God."

Not pushing one way or the other on religion, but obviously the same basic idea that one of the original traits of an American, was rebellion to to much authority.
