The Sign of the Dollar

Basically, the dollar sign evolved from a ligature for Pesos. Ps. Its origin is traced to a merchant, John Fitzpatrick in Florida circa 1770. However, only a few years later, in 1777 it appeared in American Revolutionary documents.

    Except for my wedding rings, I lose jewelry too easily -- and I have two because my wife gave me one to guard the other in place. But I do have a gold dollar sign charm on my computer next to a gold charm pen.
