When they learned they could have driven the piano up the street, they dragged it back down the steps, then drove it back up. Their characters were known for being nitwits, especially Stan (except for his brief conversion to Lord Paddington in A Chump at Oxford.) Their theme song sonicly portrays them well: Ku-Ku (The Dance of the Cuckoos), by T. Marvin Hatley. Of course, in reality, the pair were brilliantly creative men, especially Stan.

Their film out west was called (can you believe it?) Way Out West (1937). Their charming little dance was to the harmonies of a group called The Avalon Boys singing "At the Ball, That's All."

For about $60 on Amazon, the DVD set Laurel & Hardy: The Essential Collection includes Way Out West and almost every other of their sound films and short features. (But not The Flying Deuces, Bonnie Scotland, Babes in Toyland, or their silent stuff.) For me, just Block-Heads, Brats, Politiquerías, A Chump at Oxford, The Music Box, Our Relations, and Sons of the Desert would have justified the price. But there are more than 4 dozen other shorts and features in the set.

Don't forget that when the alleged misconduct took place Trump was a registered Democrat, he was simply trying to fit in.

My beef is with the gratuitous violence.
Also on a personal note having lost my son to suicide , my wife and I are often confronted with jokes about that sad topic watching so-called comedic entertainment.

I agree with you. I just don't like certain nasty phrases. Barack is the façade and while Michelle may be just as evil, and even the power behind the throne, it is not wise to attack her. It is like attacking the school system by picking on a teacher. Perhaps I got a bit too mushy, but good mothers do that to me.

She uses taxpayer funds to send herself on expensive vacations on which she brings along literally hundreds of friends and coterie.
She hosts rap artists who openly denigrate blacks, women, cops, etc.
She openly calls for Federal control of schools through her lunch programs.

Agreed. The pure text of Michelle Obama's speech was one thing and I agreed with it. The problem is that it means nothing coming from a Democrat like Michelle Obama or Hillary Clinton.

There are so many films I like that I hesitate to name one. But of them all, I guess Shane is my favorite. Yes, there's gun fighting and death, but it is shown in a negative way, and the hero is quite Randian. The final scene has the hero saying, "There's no going back from a gunfight." For the most part, thoughI don't mind guns if they further the plot and are not shown to without a moral backbone.

I would be remiss if I didn't add any Marilyn Monroe movie. I have been very lucky to have been married for 37 years to her look alike.

I have in the last year seen two films that literally filled the screen with dead bodies. Django was filled with splattering blood and shot up bodies, and The Magnificent Seven also full of guns and blood. But before all the hoo-hah about guns no one took it seriously. No one expected to see bodies filling up and spilling out of the screen.

Exactly right Abaco, I have thought the same thing about those two faced celebs glamorizing bad or the most disgusting evil behavior. I also find it ludicrous that the worst scenes of trash ment for mature audiences ( trailers) are played again and again during a family show.

Perhaps Michelle is 100% behind Barack, but she doesn't vacation anywhere near him, burning through lots of extra taxpayer dollars for transportation, Secret Service protection, and the like. Secret Service employees who must be near her do not like her.

Laurel & Hardy’s 1932 movie, The Music Box won the Academy Award for “Best Short Subject.” In the film Stan & Ollie repeatedly attempted to carry a large box containing a player piano up a steep flight of steps, with assorted mishaps during and after the process. During filming, when carried up the steps, the box was empty, but when “escaping” sliding down the steps, it actually contained a piano.

On a visit to downtown Los Angeles (and nearby), I walked up those steps (131 of them) carrying my camera, sans piano. The bottom of the steps, marked with a plaque, is between 923 and 935 Vendome Street in the Silver Lake district, off Sunset Boulevard.

Also click the Earth button to get a photographic view, then simultaneously press Shift while clicking and dragging your pointing device to control a 3D perspective view. (Did you know you could do that?!)

If physically downtown, you might also want to visit the Bradbury building at the corner of W 3rd Street and S Broadway, across from the Million Dollar Theater and a few blocks from the visually striking LA City Hall. The easily forgettable brick exterior hides a spectacular interior of beautiful wrought iron and polished marble. It was used as a shooting location in films and TV, most memorably in Blade Runner.
Some 7 or 8 miles toward the west, you can visit the La Brea Tar Pits, a famous ensnaring pit of black slime. Perhaps that’s a callback to the original poster’s topic about Michelle Obama, the White House rappers, and the President who invited them.
