Gary Johnson: Three questions Trump & Clinton should answer at tonight's debate

Created by the Democratic and Republican parties in 1987 to take control of presidential and vice presidential debates, it’s no surprise the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) has tried to keep third party candidates like me and my Libertarian Party running-mate Bill Weld from participating.

So I’ll try a little "virtual debating" here, with questions for Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. I’ll represent the tens of millions of true independent voters who will have no representation in the initial face-off. Just days ago, a survey by NBC/Survey Monkey revealed I was leading Clinton and Trump among non-Democrats and non-Republicans 31% to 24%.

I wish they would respectfully answer these questions and pin them down on each issue in the article: Do Mr. Trump and Secretary Clinton mostly agree?
    - We keep using our military to fight evil-doers around the world.
    - Snowden should have gone through "the proper channels" to stop gov't spying.
    - We keep fighting a war on drugs, including foreign interdiction.
    - We keep Social Security mostly how it is and put off the question of keeping it solvent until it gets close to not being able to pay benefits.
Of course they would try to draw distinctions, but I'd like them to go back to, "You have highlighted differences in the details, but you both agree."

It would be a bonus if they gave them a minute on each issue to address people who don't agree with the consensus opinion. It would tacitly highlight that not everyone agrees with Trump and Clinton. It would also make them work to present their case that their opponent is radically different.
