2 Guns

2 Guns / Rated R for violence in regular speed and slow motion, sex, nudity, bad words and cruelty to chickens.
I’m beginning 2 see a trend. The biggest film currently playing is Despicable Me 2. Also in theaters is Smurfs 2 and RED 2. Opening soon is Kick-Ass 2. 2 be different they call this film 2 Guns. The sequel will be called 2 Guns 2. What does it all mean?
2 be frank I am getting tired of 2 many sequels. What can I do about it? Not much. I need to see 2 many movies.
In 2 Guns, the 2 Guns are Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg. They play 2 guys known as “Bobby” and “Stig”. They are both undercover agents, one for the DEA and the other for the US Navy. They are trying to catch drug dealers. Why the Navy is involved since the story takes place inland is a mystery. 2 of the bad guys are Edward James Olmos and Bill Paxton. There are lots of other bad guys but with lesser stature.
Bobby and Stig get involved with lots of money, operations gone wrong, loose women, and bank robbery. During the involvement there are fights, shootings, stabbings, beatings, torture, large explosions, fire, as well as macho posturing, tattoos, bald heads, pierced bodies and Bobby (Denzel) wearing bad dentures to make him look like a bad guy. If you are a fan of the above mentioned violent acts there are plenty of them to keep you happy and contented. If you are looking for a good story there are a few plot twists but none that are overly surprising.
When the story gets quiet the repartee buddy talk between Bobby and Stig fill in the blanks while everybody reloads and replaces all of their expended dynamite and other armature. The repartee is reasonably funny and the 2 main characters seem to connect well. No matter how much violence and death are going on around them and even when they are suspended upside down, being threatened by a large and angry bull, they keep the funny chatter going as if they are above it all.
2 bad it all comes out as pretty mediocre and nothing we haven’t seen before. Filmed in 2 States, Louisiana and New Mexico,
this film is at best not 2 good but not 2 bad.
Rated 2 out of 4 lets make it 2.5 out of 4 to be different. That way we can rate the sequel 2.5 out of 4, 2.
