If we had left forces behind and prevented the situation from descending into chaos anything is possible. It's also possible things would have fallen apart anyway. It just seems wrong that we just walked away.

Exactly Rock. Cheney has always been good at answering critics. The one thing that worried me is he looked physically weak. Not sure he has much time left.

We'll never know, but I'm sure that not leaving a stabilizing force didn't help the situation in Iraq any. Could they have transformed to a natural rights loving democratic form of nation? Who knows. They're deeply tribal, and even areas that had decades of "unity" like the Balkans, it is hard and long work.

We left troops in Europe and Japan as much to ensure those nations didn't slide back to their old ways as to prevent the spread of communism. We should have done so in Iraq, and we should do so in Afghanistan as well.

I concur...this was a forum for Cheney to give his side of the 'story'.

What is so good about this, is that Cheney gets his 'say', and the liberals cannot claim that it was a 'softball' interview!

Cheney was right in his analysis of this situation and of the facts. There are some facts about Iraq, Syria, and chemical weapons that many have speculated about. Let's just say that I have confirmation.

I think she wanted to give Cheney a fair chance to answer his critics. The left wing media loons would have interrupted him. She let him speak his mind.

I thought the questions were valid and gave Cheney a chance to answer his critics. Obama and Biden made a big deal in the 08 election cycle about Mcain Bush and Cheney being wrong about Iraq. He corrected a lot of disinformation.

She had to do this story to make Fox News look fair and balanced. Why must news be fair or balanced?

Cheney was right in his analysis of the Iraq situation, but he and Bush were wrong in their premise that they could establish a foothold for civilization in Iraq. I and many others still fail to see why we should violate the Prime Directive. When societies choose to become part of the civilized world, then I will welcome them. Until then ...

History did NOT prove they got it wrong; I saw the interview before I turned it, because Kelly was pushing the FALSE narrative that the left has been pushing since the war began.
