Beautiful, tenacious, and fearless, Dagny Taggart has inspired women and men alike for over 50 years.

As Atlas Shrugged Part 3 heads to production, some major decisions still lay ahead. For the past several months, we've read all over the web everything from "Taylor was PERFECT!" to "Samantha IS Dagny!" to "You should have case [INSERT NAME HERE]!"

Now it's time for you to tell us directly. Who is Dagny Taggart?

Taylor from Part 1? Samantha from Part 2? If you had to pick someone else, who would it be? Beyond her ability to embody the character of Dagny Taggart, what else should be considered when casting Dagny? Should she already be an advocate of Ayn Rand's ideas? Should she have at least read Atlas?

    I vote for Samantha Mathis.
Taylor did a good job but I feel that Samantha showed the weariness that Dagney started to feel.
Besides, Taylor is quite busy with her new series..
    Wasn't one change enough?

I feel both Taylor and Samantha have portrayed Dagny well, but in different ways. Taylor was closer to the character I imagined as I read the book. However, I feel Samantha brought more depth to the character. To me, either would be preferable to introducing a 'new' Dagny. If however, a new Dagny is required, than that individual should have, at minimum, read the book. It would be more Rand-like to cast someone who lived the philosophy, but a strong portrayal trumps that card.

I'm always surprised at the unanimity of opinions in any organization - are you all lemmings? These comments favoring Taylor give one the impression that no other actresses on the planet would qualify.

I've always admired the beauty and persona expressed by Rosamund Pike, whom I saw most recently in Jack Reacher. She projects strength and sensitivity, not to mention her natural beauty. I have no idea if she would be willing to portray Dagny, but might be worth inquiring. The first movie I remember her from was one of the older James Bond movies starring Pierce Brosnan (I think she was the "ice lady").

Wasn't Angelina Jolie considered in the first part? To go that way, or put another different lady for the lead, maybe the post movie talk will be more about the content of the story than about the lopsided leads.

January Jones could work. Her body and age is correct. Her price would be reasonable. Part III should have a complete new cast. Previous actors will give the film a pieced together look. The previous actors did a fine job. I really enjoyed both films

The cast from Part 1 certainly depicts the characters within the book more so than those from Part 2!!

On that note, why was this great and complicated epic done in only three movie episodes? What is needed is a 12 hour mini series!!

Taylor A+ - I liked her cool assurance. Samantha was B - I liked her maturity but she didn't have the "I don't mind making sacrifices and I've disciplined myself to make things happen" look that Taylor did -- that most hungry entrepreneurs have. Bring Taylor back.
