Wow, and I thought unions in the U.S. were corrupt...

Actually, that sounds completely reasonable. Rocks thrown from a distance are much less dangerous than rocks thrown at someone on the ground with the assailant standing over them.

You may very well be right, but still, it goes against the grain. We are facing enemies that have such an inhuman, perverted sense of morality that it is repulsive to even have to engage them. Have we gotten to the point where we have no alternative but annihilation? And will that cause a global conflict?

I differ with you in one respect: there are no "non-combatants". With Islam you either believe or will be killed. And Vietnam should have taught us about trusting elderly, women, and children. Women and children are *property* to Muslim men.

Yes, altruism has given birth to political correctness. But, you can't kill them all. There are non combat elderly, women and children. At the present time, we cannot stop our "leaders" from acting stupidly. We still have a military presence in Japan and Germany. Pulling out of Iraq was a major blunder and Afghanistan will be the same. We won, only to hand off the countries to the enemy -- whatever you call them. It should be, we win, we take over, we maintain. We don't try to democratize them, or give them freedom. They can do that themselves to the extent we approve. The weird thing is, because of political correctness, we can kill and be killed, spend billions upon billions, but we are not allowed to reap the benefits of our blood and treasure. Call it P.C. or I would call it insanity. If we are not willing to take the benefits of our efforts we should stay home and let them kill each other. However, the only way we can do that is to close the borders so tight an alien flea won't get through, and help defend our allies such as England and Israel. If the jihadists know we truly mean it when we draw a red line and the consequences of crossing that line are worse than they can even imagine (which we are capable of) and you will see how quickly things settle down. We seem to be so afraid of what the world will say about us that we are willing to cut our own throats in order for them to smile at us. Why should we care what Europe or Asia thinks - look at their histories. Phew! Got that off my chest Thanks for the opportunity I.G.

"If you do what you say, you are no better than them, maybe worse because you know better."

I've given this quite a bit of thought. This is strictly self-defense; the initiation of force has been from their side, however, our tepid (and altruistic) response is largely responsible for our current dilemma. Had we gone into the Middle East and cleaned house like we did in WW II, the world would be a very different place. The vermin infestation is the result of our cowardice. The fact that we've thrown so many American lives away for nothing is disgusting.

That's the dilemma. If you do what you say, you are no better than them, maybe worse because you know better. On the other hand, what do you do about a vermin infestation?

Very good point Herb... The unions here do the same thing even though they do not physically kill the CEO's, in many cases they end up killing the company.

I think turning a reasonable part of that world into glass would get the job done quite nicely. It may be the only way.

China and India. Both have populations literally in the billions. That makes life very cheap there. In both those countries there is little difference between money and life. Remember the old saw that went around years ago: If you could merely press a button and kill some obscure person for a million dollars, would you do it? No question as to the answer for most of those people. That is also one of the reasons why we will never fully defeat the radical Islamists. They value death over life. Which, by the way is why they are so evil.

In my engineering work I came up against a couple unions once. Funny thing...I was never scared. I was up-front and very honest to their management and, in retrospect, I think that saved my skin. I was actually doing something that would benefit the unions but they were too short-sighted to openly agree with me. There's a culture of "college boy engineer bad, butt-crack plumber good". So, with their minds made up they just bought a judge and had my work overturned after the fact. I'll never go that route again. In that regard I've gone Galt.

    LOL...thanks for your understanding.

Many years ago I worked with a Chinese guy who Bush Sr. had granted asylum to right after Tienanmen Square. He told me a story, this happened about 25 years ago, of a manufacturing manager at a refigerator factory in China. Seems this guy couldn't bring the quality up to accpetible standards. So, after a while the government police came to the factory, brought him out back and blew his brains out. Story with a similar flavor...everything matters except the sanctity of life.

Sometimes stupid people are funny. If they were in this hemisphere it wouldn't be as funny.

    (I'm being an ass)
