The feds took control of voting when they enacted the Voting Rights Act. It was needed, and from what you say it still is, but the feds are partisan and won't enforce it on their own side. Maybe the law should be changed to offer bounties to anyone who catches a cheater such as the one you talked to.

i would have arrested the election officials who should have been monitoring the area outside...and the guy outside...if i would have restrained him, I probably would have been the one arrested...

    And, again:

It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.

Fully agree but then it's water long under the bridge and we're dealing with the last gasps of a dying administration and looking for the best possible and most moral way out of this. About the only thing to offer is I've come to the conclusion that it is not a violation of moral values to use something useful thus adhering to the Second and Third Laws of Objectivism. Providing as I've stated many times the useful tool is not over the line of acceptaility as well. Then the next best bet is None Of The Above and joint that exceedingly large group that neither registers nor votes and in doing so votes "No Confidence" or None of The Above. That is a valid vote in poltiical science called the under vote. It signals a massive degree of discontent and one that is building with every election so supporting that is a choice.

A more convoluted one is I'm not voting for Trump I'm voting against Clinton or some combination. It's really all a personal decision and I had great hopes for the Libertarians doing something to walk away with something for their massive even heroic efforts. Sadly so far it's a platform without a candidate until the Town Hall Meeting I'm hoping we will be presently surprised.

I did run into one of the expats today who stated if Johnson does a deal with Clinton he would be surprised and thought Johnson too far to the right to even be acceptable. We don't hear that one very often. I figured Clinton would take votes where she could get them and renege later and to that the individual agreed. but saw nothing wrong with it.That family has been Democrat since before Lincoln.

        cheers

Great, those who allow illegal immigration and punish those who try to enforce immigration laws are pressing to be the guardians of voter integrity...laughable. I wonder if ANYONE thats supposed to be a representative of the people will stand in defiance to this? Tempted to never vote again.

    J. McCain won his primary today, tempted to vote democrat for the first time in my life. Doing so will require several shots and a Brillo scrub shower.

It's not like I'm never going to vote again. I would if there was nothing else of comparable importance on my calendar for election day, such as flea-dipping my cat or changing the oil in my car.

...Or throwing away your legacy of freedom per the US university system's directives.
How about changing the 'oil of Washington D.C.' and voting for a powerful conservative for a change? We need Donald Trump to clean up the White House and scrub politics clean.

Does his little victory carry enough weight for you t overhrow and ignore all your values? Then you never had any. Snap out of it. There is work to be done. Greiving or some Republican or some Democrat will not defeat them.

MA, he's just said the same thing you have been preaching for the past 2 months: ignore your principles and vote for the arguable lesser of two evils. The only difference is the amount of power the evil wields after the election. As least in the POTUS race Johnson is another choice that has not used his power to loot.

You never heard me say that iyou heard the opposite so dont' be putting words in miy mouth You are the only one calling Trump Evil with absolutely no proof but personal opinion and i've called iyou on that each and every time and iyou have failed to provide any facts in evidence each and every time so you have gone back to your true roots again hey? Stick it lefty. Can't reframe this one this or any time. There is no at least there is only your personal opinion. If it's arguable the lesser tricky trot out your proofs and we'll go through your whole leftist list of BS once again. Start with the NY Liberal Democrat story. When you are done go back to Soros and tell him iyou failed once again. Come on the whole world is waiting .......again. Reframe that.

I said flawed you keep repeating the left wing mantra and is not truer than it was the first time. Put up or shut up hillary boy! Notice Iii did not claim a personal attack even though that lie just printed was exactly that.

There are none so blind as he who will not see. Trump's past actions are indicative of his character and his political stance. You ignore them and irrationally claim there is no proof. I have explained this repeatedly but you still sling insults because you have no rational response. Anyone who disagrees with your opinion you irrationally claim is a leftist. That's no different than the leftists repeatedly claiming anyone who disagrees with their PC rubbish is racist. You must do better than one ad hominem attack after another.

Perfsonal opinions are not facts subjectivist. Any facts. aniy factual evidence at all? I notice you dance around facing that challenge with only one common trait. Anyone who threatens Hillary is the target. So...i'm going to go shopping you can lay out all your facts and evidence and for the edification of new comers point out this is an objectivist site. Failure to meet that standard is prima facie evidence the rest of your comments are equally suspect. However I am convinced you are not being piaid. Soros does not reward incompetence. After that apply Occam's Razor. So far having presented nothing...I don't believe you. you are not useful. And your personal attacks are very weak so no complaint to the forum.

If this were a purely Objectivist site, there would most likely be no posters. With all kinds of pejorative monikers and ad hominems and recommendations to very questionable science, etc., there is little about Objectivism or any other near rational discussion. Just another site to place a lot of mental question marks after what is read.

Been at this fight 20+ years...as with my commentary, I'm tired of beating my head against the wall waiting fro useful idiots to see what they are doing.

Would I vote D? Likely not. Still, I'd rather have someone I know who is working against me, with no reasonable expectation of representation, than the pandering self-serving jackass which is mccain who lies every time he speaks. Met him 3 times spoke to him briefly twice, nothing there but a political animal.

I haven't had the displeasure. But then I am no fan of either side of the left. What are the odds between McCain and the opponent. Of the two which is the most dangerous to the main objective. And which if won would be the most dangerous back in DC. I judge it depends who is the new leader. A demo freshman has no clout at all just obedience to the party. McCain is the other end of the spectrum depending on how severely the Republicans are trashed.

The useful tool for that is Trump and what will keep Trump straight is economics and business experience over politics.

Once you win you owe the party that rejected you nothing. then gather up the worthy and form a viable third party with seated Senators and Representatives. Become then a magnet for their disaffected I would like to see that. Worth while Trade but not much lost if the winner is nothing more than a party line voter with nothing more to offer except trying to get re elected in 2018.

This isn't going to be over because of Nov 8th. Either way whoever takes the helm the mission is still the same.

Question ...who among us has access to those level?

with mccain its same shit different candidate. He speaks whatever gets him by then shits on anyone who has supported him when he's back in office. When I first moved here I voted McCain solely on his rhetoric and his military record (I had moved from NY), I regret that every election cycle.

Talked to a couple of AZ types who were life long Republicans and dislike McCain but no joy there either. Their dilemma was Clinton or Johnson. Why not Trump? He's a Republican? Really last I looked they disowned him and pulled support. Right now he really is an independent. Look at this way want paybacks on the GOP what better useful tool than Trump five point behind and gaining Mr. Johnson is eight and steady as the rock of gibralter and how long since it went anywhere and you don't get Hillary.

What's wrong with Clinton? All that experience?

              What experience?

              They thought about.

Score two for the anti Goverenment Party side.

Now let's go find out what happened in Mexico.

The Lib-Progs will use any pretext to gain and retain power. For them democracy is simply a con that can be used to that end. "Voting is good but what if you vote the wrong way? Then where shall we be?" I don't remember if that was from "Animal Farm" or Bill Clinton.

Obama is trying to sneak this through with lies. He's using Homeland Security and its right to protect us from threats to our infrastructure (under which elections do not fall) to steal more power. So, what is the Republican establishment (through the Senate and House) going to do. Write to them and tell them to STOP HIM!

What's odd to me is that some Hillary supporters I know don't care that there is election fraud. They even admit it's there. What has gotten into people?

This, and many other strange things, leave me wondering how our nation will survive the next several years. I don't think we'll recognize it soon.

The American people forgot that we have a few drops left of American blood running through our veins. Globalism, liberals and European social overkill have drained most of it.
As a stark example, Venezuela has drained their last drops and now citizens run amoke in the streets with empty pots and pans calling for a change.

Key items are access to the US Banks through which all my monthly income flows and I can't change that. So far the amount of problems has lessened by a. ditching Bank America and b. Turbo Tax. Easier to fix when you are a day or day and a half away by bus. Depends on yiour situation but think it through especially the cash flow AND visiting the grand kids. That is a standard leftist trick: divert a rational person's attention by saying something off the wall to attract the AP and UPI. They run with the story and America believes its minimal credibility as gospel.
They have nothing to offer but tricks and diversionary tactics.

Now i see where this is coming from . In the book, Our Patchwork Nation,

Chinni and Gimpel use counties to look at the real makeup of America rather than the red state blue state lie. They find 12 types of counties.

Anyway, there are 3,141 counties in the United States. Counties might have anywhere from 12 - 1500 precincts (by my estimation which could be way off) depending on whether it is rural, suburban, urban, or .

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precinct

For purposes of conducting elections, an entity such as a county or township is typically subdivided into precincts and each address is assigned to a specific precinct. Each precinct has a specific location where its residents go to vote. Sometimes several precincts will use the same polling station. A 2004 survey by the United States Election Assistance Commission reported an average precinct size in the United States of approximately 1,100 registered voters. Kansas had the smallest average precinct size with 437 voters per precinct, while the District of Columbia had the largest average size at 2,704 voters per precinct.[2]

That changes every two years but will give you an idea.

Patchwork Nation is 2011 for about $7 and up I ordered a copy to see if it aid in putting some sense into the hodge podge and aid in computer searches. About two weeks to get it here.

Federal Election Commission to Consider Regulating Online Political Speech
        By Rudy Takala | February 11, 2015 | 10:15 AM EST

(CNSNews.com) -- The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is holding a hearing today to receive public feedback on whether it should create new rules regulating political speech, including political speech on the Internet that one commissioner warned could affect blogs, YouTube videos and even websites like the Drudge Report.

The hearing is a response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in McCutcheon v. FEC last year, which struck down the FEC’s previous cap on aggregate campaign contributions from a single donor in an election cycle.

Before the decision, individuals were limited to a combined total of $46,200 in contributions to all federal candidates, and $70,800 to federal political action committees and parties.

Individuals are no longer restricted by aggregate limits, which Chief Justice John Roberts said "intrude without justification on a citizen's ability to exercise 'the most fundamental First Amendment activities'."

They may now "contribute up to $2,600 per election to a federal candidate, $10,000 per calendar year to a state party committee, $32,400 per calendar year to a national party committee, and $5,000 per calendar year to a PAC [political action committee]," according to the FEC.

The commission, which consists of three Republican and three Democratic members, last considered such regulations in 2005. However, intense opposition from First Amendment groups resulted in rules that were limited to paid advertisements from political campaigns, parties, and PACs.

This time around, organizations like the Electronic Frontier Foundation have warned that some Democrats on the commission would like to impose much more burdensome regulations that could serve as the equivalent of spending caps in restricting political speech.

Ann Ravel, chair of the Federal Election Commission. (FEC)

Last October, FEC Chairwoman Ann Ravel issued a statement in which she complained that the agency was not doing enough to monitor activity on the Internet.

“Some of my colleagues seem to believe that the same political message that would require disclosure if run on television should be categorically exempt from the same requirements when placed on the Internet alone. As a matter of policy, this simply does not make sense,” Ravel said.

However, the commission’s three Republican members – Lee Goodman, Caroline Hunter, and Matthew Petersen – responded to Ravel’s comments in a joint statement.

“Despite the Internet’s growing importance as a tool for all citizens to engage in political debate, and notwithstanding this Commission’s promise to take a ‘restrained regulatory approach’ with respect to online political activity, [Ravel] apparently believes the time has come to impose greater regulation on political speech over the Internet,” the group wrote.

According to Commissioner Goodman, who served as chairman of the FEC last year, regulation of content placed on the Internet is a very real possibility.

        FEC Commissioner Lee Goodman. (FEC)

“The commission has seen proposals to regulate even issue advocacy referencing federal candidates that is disseminated on the Internet," Goodman told CNSNews.com.

"That could reach YouTube videos, blogs, and websites like [the] Drudge Report,” he warned.

Among those testifying at Wednesday’s hearing, three former Republican commissioners – Donald McGahn, David Mason, and Hans Von Spakovsky – are scheduled to speak against further controls from the FEC.

The Brennan Center for Justice, Campaign Legal Center, League of Women Voters, Public Citizen, and U.S. PIRG are among those expected to testify in favor of more government regulations.

Zephyr Teachout, a Fordham University professor who will also be testifying at Wednesday’s hearing, disputed the idea that the agency would follow Ravel's dictate.

“This seems to me to be a major and silly political distraction, because this hearing is about what the FEC should be doing around McCutcheon. With the decision, along with the Citizens United decision, there are all these new opportunities for patronage politics... I’m calling hogwash [about the idea that regulations will be imposed on online content],” Teachout told CNSNews.com.

Democrats have long supported regulating political content on the Internet, but have generally sought to do so using the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

In 2009, a staff member for former Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) spoke about the possibility of the FCC passing regulations that would affect sites like Drudge.

“Does one heavily trafficked Internet site present one side of an issue and not link to sites that present alternative views?” the staff member asked. “These are some of the questions [Waxman] is thinking about right now, and we are going to have an FCC that will finally have the people in place to answer them."

However, with the FCC set to vote on February 26 on “net neutrality” rules under the auspices of preventing private Internet operators from imposing controls, the political focus behind the push to regulate online political speech has shifted largely to the FEC.

The political affiliation of the FEC chairman works on a rotating basis, with the two major political parties trading off each year. Since each party retains an equal share of members on the commission, any new rules adopted by the commission would require bipartisan support.

In pilot speak, on any long overwater flight there's a PSR, or Point of Safe Return. In political speak, regarding our nation's flirtation with socialism, I think we've passed that point.

We are witnesses to living history as Obama tries to squeeze the last ounce of American largesse from his Presidential office before his crowd gets the boot.
We approach our point of safe return, as Venezuela goes past its PSR and into the socialist drink. Now they are down to empty pots and pans to protest Maduro's government.

This is the end! Welcome to Obama's and Allinsky's Brave New World or perhaps an Orwellian world such as depicted in "1984"! Could our nation have been more wrong in placing its trust is such a person who hates the country as much as he apparently does?!

I guess the old adage is true! You do sew what you reap.......and are we now reaping with a the pending calamity that we deserve or what?!

Fosterj717, you don't need the modifier 'apparently;' the hate for the American Dream shows everywhere, and it is spreading to Hillary Clinton as his protege. If we allow her, she will march proudly through the wreckage and declare victory.

I completely agree! I never trusted Obama's brand of "leading from behind" or its manifestations (Federal Government Oversight of Kids' Lemonade Stands et al on Steroids). Look at the results of almost 8 years of the Democrats' brand of "leadership" (influenced in part by Soros' big idea of Federalizing Police Departments). These people have no judgment re: "how much is TOO much." The interesting contradiction they now face is having to address the inconsistency of DHS oversight of elections WITHOUT enforcement of Voter I.D. laws 8D

    Personally, I vote by mail.
It gives me time to research and attempt to pick a reasonable candidate. It is often an exercise in futility, but I do it anyhow.

Irshultis! IF this were a purely objectivist site.....didn't show up below.

Remember the discussion on open site closed site. You might ask some of them how to join in the closed site which is nothing but objectivist philosophy etc as I understand it.

Open to meant practical application until I hope 8 November. And other practical applications. One day I'll probably go into the other mode. and get respectable .

    Both are necessary.

I do wish I could have read your whole post.

Sure they want to take over everything. I wouldn't be surprised if the take over of elections over a false flag hack was to be sure the rigging works.

For the record even though Mr. Johnson has displayed far too many tendencies to the left he still has some connection with the center and the Constiution and the party platform althouogh unoccupied and minus a few flaws to my personal way of thinking is very good - once I got the real one. There is a tendency among some and the presence of Weld doesn't help to think of him as Hillary's strawman used to deflect her oppoinents. That is an idea which has until now not been proven. And don't forget the Libertarian Town Hall if we ever get a time and channel so far only the one's in the past pop up on google. At 8% and up or down though we need to really wait and listen before considering him viable but he is in a spoiler position. his presence cuts the gap from six percent to half that Klein's accouonts for most of the other half. Either one or together do not add enouogh to get the leading by a statistical whisker candidate over the 50% plus one mark. ReaClear.com has hundreds of polls the most telling are the averages. The race is very tight in a lot of States. But it's only an indicator and it does not indicate what mainstream is trying to depict. Questionis are they really her friends or just being ordered to do so by the owners? . Thank youl.

I should point out again I do not, and refuse to use leftist definitions. In theres the center was a space between Rinos and Dinos. It doesn't work. they also recognize only liberals and conservatives or progressives and conservatives blaming the latter for everything and disregard a huge chunk of the citizens.

Instead I use a workable defintion based on historical fact and their major premise.

      Left = Government over Citizens
Center in a Constitutional Republic is the Constitution.
      Right = Citizens Over Government

putting Republicans at the righe end of the left and more properly these days as members of that coalition it's no mystery to explain why they cave left. They ARE left.

I'll have to do up another essay with the historical precedents on this workable system.

America was meant to be just slightly right of center...people over government in a constitutional republic...however, when the people are corrupt and not guided by the principles set in the constitution the government will not be either. That's what was meant by "a virtuous people".
