Such a lack of reality:

"But then I realized something pretty scary -- we seem to be living in Rand's world right now, not because of the evil government she imagines but because some of our business leaders seem to be convinced that they are the heroes of Rand's novel Atlas Shrugged, and like those fictional characters, are prepared to go on strike if they do not get what they want in the November elections."

This guy has a MBA from Columbia... What a joke! If this is the analytic talent that gets MBAs, why does that Ivy League would be learning hall get ANY work? This guys desire to be remarkable is plastered all over his work. Here's a clue, produce value before I replace you with a very small shell script! In the author's linked reference, he makes reference to Bernie Madoff, as an example of Ayn's philosophical result. I guess having a family torn apart by fraud is happiness in the authors view! This guy seriously needs to lift his eyes beyond his toes before he walks, to say nothing of writing! A gleaming example of a looter this one...

So just skim it to the end, and you will see that this non-producer actually dares producers to strike. Obviously hasn't even the wisdom of the looters in Atlas Shrugged.

If anything, the author of this HuffPost "article" (more like hateful screed -- HA!) has his head planted way down where the sun don't shine, so WHEN the rest of the producers of the world DO go on strike, he's still going to think everything's coming up roses!

The Author of this Absurd Article is Obviously attempting to Redefine the Meaning of the word "Absurd"....either that or take it to the power of Infinity.....

I made it to the 4th paragraph. To see something close to the world Ayn Rands vision would have created you would have to go back to early railroad days or early in America.

When people came from European countries to the US back in that time they were amazed by the lack of poverty. Several mentioned it to Washington (according to Ron Chernow's Washington a life). That was the closest thing that has ever existed to a free economy and it produced the lowest level of poverty ever seen. If it had been left alone and the economy continued to act without government interference i am quite certain our level of poverty would still be so low that it would amaze the visitors.

That is what we gave up when the government thought the railroads would not expand as they needed to without government intervention, and then due to the intervention monopolies formed that allowed the government to solve the problem they created with the Sherman act. It has gone downhill from there ever since, with only a few bright spots of growth.

I wonder what the world would be like if we had never had government play in the economy of the US? I long to live in that world.
