Windows 7 and 8.1 updates switching to cumulative monthly rollups starting in October

MS fights back against the few people who actually pay attention, so when you hid their "phone home data gathering" updates, they will just ram them into a roll up, and you will not get any details on just what it is you are updating. I assume this is the way they will get all MS software to send its user data back top the mother ship to be digested and sold, ala Google. I know some people here never update, but I have found the security flawws described in a lot of other articles to be more dangerous than hoping Kaspersky can fight them off.

"it’s unlikely that there will be an option to be selective about the updates"
This is just another MSFT scam to force their privacy invading software onto all computers using all versions of windows.

Another reason to N E V E R do MSFT updates to windows.
    And to switch to Linux A S A P.

You can check no and say no until hell freezes over and they they start that input in 15 minutes crap and give you no option except saying no no no and then disconnecting the computer completely...only to find that clock had run it's course. Every month sure as the earth turns to the east and that business about no support. Forget about it With XP they kept up the harassment for six months to a year . Someone is paying some off in major dollars to get away with what is clearly a conspiracy to defraud the public starting with putting out untested full of problems software as ready go and then publicly announcing there business plan is get it on the market fix it later. And you talk about morality in the USA?

Nope. never mentioned morality. It is clear to me that morality went with the DoDo years ago, now it is "How can I rip you off the easiest and the mostest". MS is a perfect, transparent example, they took the business of selling you an operating system, failed at that, could not afford to support fixing it, and so now has morphed (ala Google), into an information stealing platform, which they will then sell in digested forms to all buyers. Just toi add insult to injury, they will continue to lie, and will ultimately have a system where you have one OS, pay a monthly fee, and when you do not pay the fee, have the ability to lock you out. This change is to facilitate that in the older software, they already sent out all the updates to install the information theft, if you know which ones, you can uninstall or delete them from the download. With the package, you will be one with the Borg. Illegal? Yep. But so is 90% of what the government is doing. No one stops them, so why will they stop MS? Especially if they donate to the right campaign. It's all connected.
