This is how the US promotes "democracy." You knew Maliki was a goner when he criticized that paragon of democracy and civil liberties, Saudi Arabia, stating that they support ISIS, which they clearly do. Now we are cozying up to another paragon, Iran. Deposing a democratically elected leader has worked well for us in the Ukraine. It is impossible to be too cynical about US foreign policy.
