one can change their party affiliation about a month before and election. see

The looters are running the state but I don't think they can throw the primary. I live in conservative Elbert County, and our liberal democrats go to great lengths to use their votes to screw with the state outcomes in primarys and go through histrionics to sound like they control the planet. I don't know how effective a tactic it will be, now that the Dem legislature just added a tax to 875,000 Coloradans to pay for the uninsured health care exchange costs. The Colorado citizens are getting pissed, even some of the liberal ones outside of Denver and Boulder that actually own something.
WRT to the Utah and Kansas comment, Governor Hikenlooper straddles any mildly controversial issue with such broad statements of firm resolution on both sides of an issue that no one can figure out if he is for something or against it, then he finds a way to do neither, like the reprieve (delay) of Nathan Dunlap's execution while he is governor. He didn't execute the death warrant and he didn't commute it, he just postponed it for as long as he is the Gov. Which hopefully isn't for much longer.
Oh, and ball should have been plural in my previous post.
Cheers.
Cheers.
BHO. The worst president of the 21st century, and it is only 14.449% complete.
Cheers
My mouth to God's ear, I pray.
I like the idea. I like the part about awarding metals too.
Run by immigrants? You're implying that they are entrepreneurs who started their own businesses (how, if they're in the country illegally?) When you see someone behind the counter who can't speak English, but speaks fluent Spanish, odds are he's an illegal hired to circumvent regulation.
You apparently knew the Mexicans who stayed in Mexico. I'm not saying that people of Mexican descent are the dregs; I'm saying the ones who sneak across the border here are. I haven't been to Mexico; I haven't met the Mexicans who stay there and try to survive amidst the corruption; I've just met lots and lots of the dregs who sneak into my country and try to turn it into theirs.
Yes, there are some who come under the allure of "free benefits." But having lived in Mexico for some time in the mid-90's, I'd say that most of the Mexicans who I came into contact with were desirous of the opportunity not of the hand-out. They knew that in America, they could save up some money and not have the gov't inflate the value to nothing in just a few months (hmmm, seems we've lost that), that they could start a business without having oppressive regulations and needing to bribe the officials and regulators to gain approval (hmmm, seems we've lost that as well), and that you can speak out against your government without fear of retribution (hmmm, seems we've lost that as well - why the hell would they want to come here, now, anyway?).
As an added thought, imagine the effect of a drastic reduction of the welfare state to that of a limited, demonstrated and investigated needs based aid system on our lack of emigration. Maybe we could even afford to pay for the boat trip or maybe even convert some legislator's miles award cards.
In fact that would be a mighty recognition of the travails of many if not most of the settlers of this continent and country. They couldn't make a living in Northern Europe, then Southern Europe, then Eastern Europe and so on, and they came here, many on boats provided by their home countries.
America, *until recent decades* has been a beacon for those looking to *build* a better life.
The illegals that have been flooding the country for decades are coming here for the riches they feel they are entitled to, and lie, cheat and steal to get them.
Having worked around illegals for close to 20 years, I know they come here looking to be dependents, they're not "turned". It's the social programs that attract them.
An example I've given before: a construction contractor will hire a "legalized" alien invader, pay him the going rate for a job class, deduct taxes, social security, etc, all perfectly above-board...
And this "employee" will bring five illegal alien buddies to work off the books, paid by him, out of his wages sharing expenses and living conditions that the "poor" natives of the U.S. would find unacceptable.
That's just one, blatant, example of employers circumventing the regulations in order to compete on price (may you smoke a turd in purgatory forever, Jimmy Carter, for promoting cost culturally dominant over quality)
And, let me be clear; I don't give a crap about eliminating the welfare state where illegal alien invaders are concerned. I want death by torture for the employers who hire them, and I want the invaders themselves thrown bodily back across the border by trebuchet.
Eliminating the welfare state is a solution for native-born parasites.
