When Lord Trump hears about this, he will likely redefine "Establishment" once again, this time saying it includes all military personnel.

Sorry, but this just doesn't pass the smell test.
I'm in touch with a number of people in the military, including and especially marines. From enlisted men to noncoms, to commissioned officers, they impress me as exactly the opposite of what is being presented. I'm not a pollster, but still, this just doesn't jibe with what I have known for years. I may be wrong, but as of now, I remain unconvinced.

It's always good to be skeptical. I don't have an independent 2nd source confirming the Cato Institute (Libertarian group) article, but Cato is usually a pretty good source. My biased expectation was a solid GOP leaning from military voters and campaign contributors.

I mainly loaded this article link because I thought it was thought provocative and likely to stimulate some interesting conversations.

Very cool. Libertarian view on military is pretty good. We waste our military (lets say Obama does and Hillary would for sure) on useless wars where the soldiers get maimed and killed for essentially nothing. Its a real travesty. If you are going to war, then go in to win and kill the enemy fast and thoroughly. Otherwise, dont bother.

Does not surprise me. Here is the sad thing and it is a shame the Military seems to have had actual Military Strategy educated right out of the corp of their training.

"Walking Tall" - Walk softly carry a BIG STICK

"You do not win a war by dying for your country, you win a war by making the other poor bastard die for his." George Patton

“Whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword obviously never encountered automatic weapons.”
    ― Douglas MacArthur

“It is fatal to enter an war without the will to win it.”
    ― Douglas MacArthur

“You are remembered for the rules you break.”
    ― Douglas MacArthur

If you want total security, go to prison. There you're fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking... is freedom. Dwight D. Eisenhower

When you are in any contest, you should work as if there were - to the very last minute - a chance to lose it. This is battle, this is politics, this is anything. Dwight D. Eisenhower

"The Art of War, written by the Chinese strategist and tactician Sun Tzu (544-496 B.C.). The central principle of Sun Tzu’s model of military strategy is to use cunning to bring the enemy to lay down his weapons and surrender before the battle has even begun. In other words, according to Sun Tzu, the best military strategist is he who wins the war without having to fight, simply by using cunning, bluff and timely disinformation to confuse the enemy, giving him false hope at the start of hostilities only to completely disillusion him in the end."

I am not so sure I would want to test Trump. Gary Johnson and Hillary, hell yes and I would beat them like the cockroaches they are.

Trump on the other hand. Unpredictable, Does not telegraph his moves, and from what I can gather thinks about 5 to 10 moves ahead. Sure he makes some mistakes along the way, but who does not.

Until Johnson manages enough support to get on the debate stage, he's just so much white noise static in the process, regardless of support of a distinct group. The military definitely does not like Hillary Clinton, and the feeling is mutual. Trump supports increasing the military budget and putting our military at risk only when absolutely necessary (not much different from Johnson), while Hillary is sounding as hawkish as ever. The American body count will definitely be higher under a Clinton administration than either Trump or Johnson.

    It's a quick read. I liked it.

"At one point, [Ron] Paul had collected 87 percent of the military contributions for GOP candidates. As of March 2012, Paul had received more than twice the amount for Obama, almost 10 times the amount for Romney, more than 10 times as much as Gingrich and about 32 times the amount for Rick Santorum, a former senator. The latter three were inveterate war hawks who themselves never served in the military. In contrast, Obama presented himself as a critic of unnecessary war.

"After Mitt Romney effectively wrapped up the GOP race, military personnel shifted their financial support, but they supported Obama, not Romney. It turns out that when GOP candidates beat the war drums, they ended up competing for votes from the ivory tower rather than the armed services. In March 2012, Obama collected about twice as much cash as Paul, who in turn received twice as much as Romney."

I also thought it was succinct and illuminating. The candidates who bellow the loudest, trying to sound tough, do not fool the military voters. Obama fooled some of them, by saying one thing but governing differently.

At any rate, it will be interesting to see if Gary Johnson's support from the military voters holds up through the rest of this sad, pathetic, campaign circus...

During the 2012 election, I recall reading claims that O the Great and Powerful was finding ways to stifle the military vote, especially votes cast overseas.
Can't recall if such "news" was tied to donation requests--some that I find suspicious.
