This is just insulting. The administration is still trying to figure out what to do. Do they not plan for anything. The military is always planning on how to respond should something happen around the world. Hopefully the militants will take a long weekend to relax and give them time to figure it out.

elite I am not an observer of reality yes, from the study of objectivism, as for walmart you find people from all walks of life as a result of the government control of the economy.

actually those who seem to be waking up are an insignificant number. the riots in brazil, the fighting all over Africa and of course the middle east. then of course the situation we have in our country with the feds allowing who knows what in, don't you think this too will have a negative affect on life here. I recommend that you read "return of the primitive". I never cease to be amazed at how brilliant Ayn Rand was. What she wrote 40/50 years ago rings true today.

"But I'm encouraged that more people seem to be waking up to it."

Then you need to shop at your local Walmart more often.... ;-)

You are an elite in regards to awareness (like many of us here)...and your optimism is commendable, but (in my humble opinion) unsupported.

    God save The Republic!

You're welcome. He sometimes sounds more Zen, but here are a few Rumi quotes which sound quite Objectivist:

Set your life on fire. Seek those who fan your flames.

You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop.

I agree that mass media and public schools are doing a lot of damage. But I'm encouraged that more people seem to be waking up to it.

the only thing that will come out of this situation regardless of what we do or do not do is see the cost for the gasoline we buy increase.

    Bull's Eye!
And novels, and art. You'll always reach more young people via the culture than through polemics.

Have you read the poems of Rumi? Have you read The Kite Runner or other novels of Khaled Hosseini? People all over the world are individuals just like us, some brilliant and skilled, and some less so. I can easily imagine comments like this being said by the fearful and ignorant people over there about Americans.

the best thing to do is supply them on all sides with as many weapons as the need to kill each other off. history tells us has shown us that these people that I view as the missing link will never stop the fighting. education and the desire to live a productive life is a concept that does not exist in their world. of course we could help them along by turning the desert into glass!!!!!

If we were building the keystone pipeline and becoming energy independent I think we could reduce our footprint. The group taking over in Iraq are bad news. Who knows what happens next???

Agree. Neither the world or the US benefit from the US having less influence.

Although it would be nice just to do this economically, politically or through non physical means. However, it is foolish to believe in this will be successful in such an asymmetric world.

Obama is a clown. With the approval of the Iraqi government, we need to drop in a pile of marines behind the "militants", surgically and publicly remove the militants..
