    Interesting article, but I'm not sure why Dana R. Casey found this so difficult to understand. I've never read the book, as I saw the movie first. It was very apparent to me in the scene in the movie that the crowd had lost their basic humanity, and Scout being innocent, brought them back from the edge with her humanity.
    But it is good to remind ourselves that groups can often goad themselves into such actions.
