A state house representative's public comments on Hillary Clinton's failure regarding Bengazi

What is more shocking, the recent report on Benghazi, the attack in Istanbul, the three major ISIS attacks the past week, the shootings of our police officers, or the fact that the victims in Orlando are wondering if they’ve been forgotten already?

Congress released its report on Benghazi, and while the mainstream media their best to cover for Hillary, the findings were damning. State Department personnel were in a firefight for over 13 hours defending a US Ambassador, yet not one single military asset was ever sent to aid them.

I was stationed in Sicily for three years with the Navy. I could have flown my helicopter to Benghazi in a few hours. I could have flown my C-17 there in less than an hour. An F15 could have been there in minutes. The report reveals that FAST Team assets were suited up and ready to go, yet were told to change in and out of uniform 4 different times as the State Department dithered about offending the locals. Sadly, they were never given the green light and four Americans died.

Even worse, as Americans were being gunned down by terrorists, half of Hillary’s emergency briefing that night was focused on how to blame the tragedy on a completely unrelated video. Ambassador Stephens, her “friend” whom she said she’d “handpicked” for Libya asked for better security not once, not twice, but 600 different times…both months before the attack and during the attack. Unfortunately, his pleas fell on deaf ears as he became the first US Ambassador to be murdered in decades.

The mainstream media claimed there was nothing new in this report, yet nothing could be farther from the truth. It is now a documented fact that Hillary told Chelsea the night of the attack that is was done by terrorists. She repeated the statement to the PM of Egypt the next day saying – and I quote – “we know the attack in Libya had nothing to do with the film. It was a planned attack, not a protest.” Yet days later, as she stood over the coffins of the fallen, she bald-faced lied to the mothers and fathers, claiming the attack was due to the unrelated video.

There are other points that shouldn’t be forgotten. First, the attack happened on September 11th. The fact the State Department could be so ill-prepared, on that date especially, falls squarely on Hillary’s shoulders. Second, to this day, the President has refused to tell the public what he was doing that night. Congress has asked many times, but the man who claims he’s the most transparent President in history has lawyered-up and refused to answer. Third, the attack happened just a month before the President’s 2012 re-election. A vigorous press would have demanded answers, especially during the heat of a very close election.

To this day, we have no answers.

Blue Skies,

Representative Dave Belton
Georgia House District 112
Major, United States Air Force (retired)
