Fantastic article Aglialoro. I am so glad what you had to say was posted to such a prominent news site. The CORRECT message got out, not an improperly interpreted one.

Truer words have not been spoken. Mr. Aglialoro is deserving of commendation! One thing of note, I noticed a quote from George Bernard Shaw at the top of the Forbes page. Shaw was a socialist villain. The quote has value, proving the adage a stopped watch is accurate twice a day…

What was the quote? Where exactly did you see it?

        Hello Mr. Desapio,

The quote was “Silence is the most perfect expression of scorn” I believe. It has disappeared from the page. When I returned and refreshed the page it was the quote of the day, was located where the “WIN THE TRIP OF A LIFETIME! Click here.” text now resides. I think there was something happening to my browser and it briefly showed the Forbes header before it went to the AS story.
        Regards,
        O.A.

I saw it there when I returned to. It must randomize based on IP visits. Shaw was a Fabian Socialist, and was a huge part of the intellectual movement that has advanced so much of the mess we are dealing with today. Here it is. "Forbes Thought Of The Day
“ Silence is the most perfect expression of scorn. ”

          — George Bernard Shaw"

    "Reason is not automatic.
Those who deny it cannot be conquered by it.
    LEAVE THEM ALONE."
    - Ayn Rand

"To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason
is like administering medicine to the dead."
    - Thomas Paine

I agree with this article completely when one is talking about a private discussion. However, when we are dealing with published articles or anyway public comments, then Himmler was right-a lie told often enough because the truth in people's minds. When the author gave the example of the CNN reporter's comments about Atlas Shrugged, it is important that people refute his comments publicly. In each of or industries and endeavors, can you look back and see that you may have been complacent in important discussions that resulted in industry changes? In my own industry, Intellectual Property and patents specifically, I regret that I was not outspoken in 2000 about the assault on patent rights and property rights in general, which Ayn Rand was a staunch supporter of. Yes, even Cato Institute and ironically Reason magazine are misinformed about property rights and patents today. Vigilance, vigilance...

It's not necessarily about refutation, but just having an outlet for the opposite POV. For instance, the conversation changed once FoxNews was created.

Much of the problem today is simply that all the works of education, media, and art come from one perspective--relativism (which is voiced in secondhandedness and collectivism)--and the only voice for objective reality people hear is religion which forces man to be subservient.

isn't this the same thing that Romney said with the 47% comment? We need to make sure that the other 53% know whats up, what its about and go vote.

Note that the 47% that dont pay income taxes includes the strikers. Simply being a taxpayer should not be confused with being productive or one who would likely be responsive to the Atlas message. Don't we all know productive people who have been downsized because of short sighted management. These people are now in the 47%, but many have a clearer picture of the economic problems caused by out of control government than many in the 53%. These are people who refuse handouts like food stamps. They are some of our greatest protentail allies.
