An interesting overview of graphene. Sort of reminds me of the motor.....

    with name = fltech and password = brenner,
    download graphene.tif and graphene2012.tif by right clicking on them. If you try to read those .tif files using QuickTime, you will only see page 1. Windows Photo Viewer should allow you to see all the pages.

    An inexpensive method for graphene production was reported on Gizmag on 4/30. This will be a game changer for graphene. Perhaps you should e-mail me about getting on my e-mail blast list. I know that this news item was in Section 24 (my nanotechnology section) of my newsletter. I send the newsletter out sporadically, sometimes every week and sometimes only once per month.

    Desalination is already pretty close to financially even with traditional water purification methods here on the Florida east coast. Several cities already use desalination.

    Yes indeed. It would solve a lot of water issues, especially in SW or even SE US. Also, since Sea Level appears to be rising, conversion to FW , while maybe seemingly negligible, would serve as a counterbalance. Just need to make a metric cubic butt-ton of it. Would help Africa and ME as well.

    The way Intel makes silicon-based chips uses finer and finer lithographic methods using higher and higher energy (now deep into the UV). Graphene circuitry will require a different, bottom-up approach. This is one of the major themes of my nanotechnology course.

    While Lockheed Martin's desalination work is interesting, I think BASF's approach with graphene-based inks are what will be revolutionary. You can fill up an inkjet printer cartridge with graphene dispersed in a solvent and print the circuits with an inkjet printer. It's not as cheap as silicon technology, but for flexible electronics, this is the path to success.

    Well I am in the heart of Intel making the latest chips and have heard nary a thing about graphene. It is possible that it is so different that it will take a whole different road, but if it is, it is very, very quite.
