I can't remember the author of the quote, but:
"A free people cannot remain free by resting their hopes on any Constitution, system of checks and balances, laws or courts. Freedom and the love of it must live in the hearts of human beings, man, woman, and child, the minute that love dies, freedom dies. It is the nature of government to demand more power. And it is the people’s responsibility to refuse to give it. After all, the people are the ones who delegate power to the government. The government does not make us free, we are free by nature.”

It looks like Epstein understands the meaning of the quote quite well.

I wonder, though, about "people are the ones who delegate power to the government". Governments seem to slowly get more and more power until its pretty much impossible for people to revolt unless a huge majority is behind the revolution. Look at Venezuela. Do the people really delegate the power to Maduro, or does he just take it.

It's similar to one by Judge Learned Hand, "What do we mean when we say that first of all we seek liberty? I often wonder whether we do not rest our hopes too much upon constitutions, upon laws and upon courts . . . . Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women; when it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it; no constitution, no law, no court can even do much to help it… What is this liberty that must lie in the hearts of men and women? It is not the ruthless, the unbridled will . . . . That is the denial of liberty and leads straight to its overthrow. A society in which men recognize no check on their freedom soon becomes a society where freedom is the possession of only a savage few.
-- in "The Spirit of Liberty" - a speech at "I Am an American Day" ceremony, Central Park, New York City (21 May 1944)

One little thing about "we are free by nature" is that humans are free to choose liberty in a society and fight for it. Most humans do not choose it and prefer to ask to be banded together and to get into trusting relationships due to hundreds of thousands of years of evolutionary selection toward safety. So exercising freedom can sometimes be too hard for most humans.

I propose that a new abbreviated "moniker" accompany all dialog dealing with the political "discourse."

Much as LOL is frequently cited, I intend on using, in honor of and homage to Alex Epstein, FOF! It will no doubt undergo a period wherein inquiries as to what it stands for will be generated, but it will in short order join the expanding lexicons of freedom!

"FOF", I love it I will always enjoy attributing that very catchy moniker to Alex Epstein and you
dwlievert. To all the statist, collectivists, communists socialists and particularly the RHINO'S , the media ,many educators who brain wash the masses.
FOF to all of them FOF.

global warming does not exist so why should a company have to defend it self from ignoring what does not exist in the first place.
socialism and fascism will not take over the country. ALL business activity will simply come to an end, and then what will these asses do?

It looks like it's open season by the on the 2nd Amendment of the Costitution and any Major Industries that aren't politically correct. This is getting to be really sickening. The time is coming when the legal firearm owners, major industries (like Exxon Mobil) start pushing back big time against the Liberal Fascist Pigs who are in our Local, State, and Federal Govt's. From what i observe, it seems like the liberals who are in office from the Prez on down are out to Wreck the USA. Since our elected officals have become Fluffy Bunnies soon the Wolves will have to remove them. I can only hope.

Well, at first I thought there might be a legal issue
with fraud. But this article says that Epstein's com-
pany isn't even part of Exxon. So I doubt that Heal-
ey has any right to those records. (Of course, I do
not believe in using obscenity of a sexual nature, so I wouldn't have phrased it in exactly
that way; I might have said "Go to h, b*!"
    or something like that).

I cheer a man standing up to what is wrong. Global warming has been disproved, and climate change is normal, albeit, more affected by government weather control experiments than by oil companies or citizens. Try to get the records on the details or especially costs of these projects in the US and you get panic stricken face, but no figures. Consider the other countries are also operating systems as we do. Now, when are they going to turn over to the public, 20 years of documentation on those? We pay for it, we should see it. Even the UN has said they don't care if it is real or not, as long as people think it is real, as then they can control them. Hello Agenda 21, and all manner of control - facism if you will.
