I have never heard of Dylan Ratigan but this was 2 years ago, and he seems to have gotten it figured out. He just needs to substitute "looted" for "extracted".
I wish more people had as much passion and understanding of the problems our nation faces. While I can't quite agree with everything he said, he certainly hits it on the head when he says that tens of trillions of dollars are being "extracted" from our nation at the cost of our future.
Ignoring the ranting tone, I agree money in politics is a problem and I agree the fiscal deficit is a problem. I think we might have the same fiscal deficit problem, though, even if we had no money in politics.
"What makes you think that?" There are so many good causes people can vote themselves money from the treasury for, and there's no working system that limits the role of gov't to prevent that.
"Just the constitution" Thanks. That's exactly why I said working system. In my view the Constitution is not working. Ideally it should not depend on having good people in office. It's supposed to have check and balances that keeping one branch from usurping powers and the gov't from getting more powerful in general. It's supposed to work despite the normal human foibles of someone ambitions and able enough to run for national office.
Dobrien, one of the issues is that "the constitution" may as well not exist, in that over 200 years it has been wallpapered over with thousands of laws and regulations, Executive Orders and Supreme Court decisions, that have just diluted it's original rules and standards into the amorphous mess we have today.
"how would the favors be bought if there was no money traded for favors?" I'm not asserting it would, only that it might. The method would be people writing letters and lobbying without money: "Cancer research is important." "We have to do something about what's happening in Syria." "You must stop people from offering my kids drugs and other dangerous/unhealthful things." "My kid goes to school with someone who has no one to watch them b/c his single parent is busting his butt at two jobs." "They're going to "take* my grandmother's entire life savings just because she needs a heart assist pump." The list of truly good causes to spend other people's money on is endless.
And the free individuals who create the production (earn the money) must have the right to decide how their own production is used, NOT the state. CG, take your socialist rubbish and leave.
The problem is that there's no guarantee that the state will be benevolent with your money even if you send ten thousand letters on grandma's behalf. Private agencies are better run and more benevolent than any government agency. If the taxes were not levied, and private voluntary charities would take over because donations would be more generous , you'd find more people getting helped more quickly than anything the government could provide. Just think about the VA as one example of how governments run things.
"The problem is that there's no guarantee that the state will be benevolent with your money " Yes. My point is that there are so many good causes that if gov't funded all of them gov't would control the entire economy instead of a third of the economy, which is obviously horrible. So it's not just a few moneyed interests. The problem is that if the gov't is in the business of funding good causes, it's in everyone's perverse interest to try to get another cause funded rather than to shrink gov't.
"SO...?" And so my original point that there are many good causes people can vote to fund with gov't money, leading to high spending, debt, and all that, unless there's some system to limit gov't...
I think it goes a lot further, with "good causes" being a generic term for whatever I have an interest in, financially, socially, emotionally. Then, how can that be manipulated by someone else to get what they want as well. It creates a constant churn of demand, and ever increasing desire for money to feed those multiplying special interests. I believe the Founding Fathers specifically ignored a huge amount of "what the gov't should do" to limit that churn and trade in favors, money and power.
Which heads to the real point of it all: Where does the society's rights and responsibilities stop and become the individuals? And, what are the individuals rights and responsibilities in reverse? Most people think their responsibility is to pay as little in taxes as possible, get as much as they can, and amass as much wealth as possible. Others counter with it is to give everything you have to the "make everyones life better" department, and a smaller third group is "I take care of myself and my family, you do the same, and the twain shall not meet". The last group invariably seems ignored, because they refuse to actively support one of the 2 major groups in their desires. IMHO of course.
The founders envisioned private charities to assist the needy in the USA that is why they receive a tax exemption. No intent for the govt. to take care of people just make sure they have the right to care for themselves and their future. What a funny idea.
Thats just it: NO FAVORS, NO MONEY, NO POWER. The Founding Fathers failed to grasp the extent of manipulation people will go to to obtain all of the three.
You got it. That was why I asked the question. Money is just a tool that is being misused to buy power and favors. Take away the money without removing the centralized power and there will just be another method of exchange used. Take away the centralized power and the money will go elsewhere, hopefully to more productive use.
The root of our major problem: Centralized power. That is the fundamental thing I see in everything the FF tried to put in place was NO centralized power, but what was minimally needed to work with other countries so they could not screw us over or invade. The Civil War defeated all that and led to the rise of our own Kremlin.
Note that he seemed to have reached the end of his rope after three years of saying this. The problem with all our politics is they just ignore you until you die of a stroke or heart attack. Look at HillaryBeast, she just pretends whatever she is said to have done didn't happen, and after a while, it becomes truth to the sheeple. Then a vast right wing conspiracy.
He is waking up, that is good. However, he is giving Obama a pass, and his money chain is no cleaner than any member of Congress. They all need the funds cut. That is exactly what they all fear with Trump, an end to the connections they all have. Obama and Soros have similar goals to ruin the US economy, you cannot leave that aspect out, as the newscaster seems not to understand.
Like I said, I found out later this was in 2011, he has now left the business to run hydroponic farms in SoCal for vets to transition to civilian. The weirder thing was he was on CNBC and MSNBC, and normally you never hear anything on that questioning the Empire. I liked what he had to say, as it was the truth and cuts out the feeding and looting by the special interests.
i have listening to Dylan on TastyTrade (options trading internet show) for over a year...he uses reason and logic and has good understanding of what is going wrong in this country and the world...
This broadcast exerpt should be rebroadcast over every media platform. I don't see aLiberal, Jihadist, Socialist Apologetic kying Prez BHO doing that other than the every US citizen rise up against the corupt structure as the anchor described and make their voices heard. Instead of sticking thier head in the sand. It looks like maybe the 10% will have to take matters into their own hands like they did in the Revolutionary War to recreate our country.
Thanks for the reply. I laughed when I first saw it, and then cried when I realized it was about 5 or 6 years old, so proof of just what an entrenched empire we are in here...
That was GREAT. He should be Donald Trumps VP and lets get the establishment in order for a change.
But, the presidents have been bought too, which is why about the only one who could fix this is Trump. He doesnt need the money and he speaks his mind like this guy.
I did not quite catch on to all the nuances of his "extraction statement, and how we wqould get it back. I am assuming he is referring to all the offshore money businesses have funneled out along the line of the Panama Papers, which, has anyone noticed, flashed and died in about 2 weeks? Yet should have been the biggest story in 50 years?
Of course, profits that business have managed to keep out of the hands of government is a GOOD thing. I always applaud people avoiding taxes when they can- since whenever we succumb to taxes, we just make statism stronger in this environment.
He is sort of conflicted philosophically in this area, but is spot on as to how government is wasting our money and is run by crony deals.
Indeed. I was not sure of his exact meaning, but he was rather excited. Can't blame him, I have had similar meltdowns in discussions with idiots who think HillaryBeast is Jesus in drag.
Old news, I have been following Dylan for a while. This is from 2013 and he hit it on the head. He now has several ventures dealing with sustainable agriculture and a new venture called Helical Holdings.
Yes, I figured all that out. My wife posted this to her FB thinking it was only a couple months ago, but when you think back, it was 2011, so the rot has continued for 5 more years, and the ticking noise is getting louder everyday.
Awesome! Term limits, folks. Term limits. Get rid of political aristocracy at the national level. Put solution minded people in office not reelection minded lifelong career politicians.
How about ONE term ONLY. No re-elections. That helps part of the problem, but the real solution is to make it part of the constitution where politicians cannot use government to make money for their constituents at the expense of other people.
I would also add lawyers, doctors and "representatives of special groups" would be banned from eligibility. One 4 or 6 year term. In order to avoid an empire of bureaucrats, you would need to limit work in it to 6-10 years, as the story would be they would have all the power because the politicos are to "new" and "inexperienced", to know what to do. We are almost, if not there, look at Lois Lerner and the rest of her ilk.
What current Presidential Candidate has not taken any big money from the political Kabal's and would be virtually impossible to buy since he/she needs no money at all?
I look forward to that candidate presenting his solution. So far it's all just bluster. He has not given any reason to support him. Saying "I'm not them. Just trust me." is not a reason. In fact, what he has said on restoring gun rights does nothing. Lots of promises and no rational plan.
Focusing on the best of or worst of three socialists is very very short sighted about as long as Clintonnochio's Nose. Throwing your hands up in despair and settling for doing nothing but waiting to vote for either of the three (still including Sanders) is this years version of flush your vote down the toilet. Just what our resident socialist roaders are encouraging. This is mid June - five months to work with and encourage one of the viable choices. Viable because they are NOT left wing and fascist. In order
Johnson from the Libertarians. Goal there is to raise their percentage of support to get on the debates and accordingly get more exposure. What they do with that gift from good Americans is up to them. Better than five sheets and two levers clogging up the sewer systems.
Undervote or Lack of Confidence Vote or none of the above vote has worded it's way up to 46% in Presidential elections and 50 plus percent in non presidential off year elections. Because of that effort there is no longer any such thing as a President elected with a majority possible 100 % of the voters pool minus 56 is 54 divided by two is 27. Dems have more than 25 the Dumbos have less than 25 and whoops here comes the Libertarians going for 16 or above. Both those other two are going to lose votes and it is POSSIBLE for one of them to slide to third place replaced by the Libertarians.
It's also possible to get that 46% up to fifty plus of the nation who say screw this charade they don't represent me. and off year over 60%.
All worthy honorable goals and he crap about won't you be sorry if Hillary gets in? No? I won't I am sorry for those who joined the secular devils congregation. Pity then is more like it.
The focus should be on regaining the constitution . not going to happen voting socialist.
and all the turncoats, traitors and weak sisters can just hope this latest effort doesn't get you Candidate Petreas. Someone to lead the military in honoring their oath of office.
I think his problem is he is thinking with his brain, thinking with his emotions and Not thinking with his Mind...provided he has one. He has spent far to long sleeping with the left to be of any use to the slightly right of center philosophy our forefathers intended for America.
We as a nation are starving to be freed from the left. So far Trump has told us about the feast, but has failed to put food on the table. He must get specific, especially on the economy, immigration and foreign policy. C'mon Donnie Baby, let's hear it!
Perhaps a lot of bluster. However, the vast majority of people in this country are complete blithering morons. Trump is speaking first to the majority of morons. Next, since I have paid attention to the "higher" thinking and interviews Trump has given, I can associate the over-simplified 3rd-grade points to the long-term strategies he has outlined in so many interviews in the past.
If all you do is listen to the terrified left wing media, the terrified GOP and the terrified Democrats and only regurgitate their short sighted talking points you are falling prey to the brainwashing that is so vehemently opposed and articulated here.
One such interview from the past. Ben Carson presented many lucid well thought out arguments during the debates, and people all fell asleep since Americans have the attention span of a ferret on crack.
Trump present to the short attention span. I do not fault him for that I fault people who do not do any REAL research and correlate those simple points tot he more complex ones he has been talking about for decades.
So you cherry pick what you want and ignore the rest of his idiotic statements and pretend that you can predict what he will do. Now I am definitely convinced he would be great..
I helped you with more, since it seems you have not actually done research. I can pull up a hell of a lot more. Nothing cherry picked at all.

We have tried the rest, and look whats happened. All the others are politically correct. Maybe one who just tells it like it is has a better chance to do what the country needs- which is a return to constitutional government and individual rights.
No, individual liberty and free markets have not been tried in over a century. The libertarians are not politically correct and they REALLY tell it like it is, and offer free market solutions, unlike Trump who thus far has no solutions.
but the libertarians wont be elected this time. more education is needed, and the libertarians can do that. clean up the crooked elections and then a third party can have a chance maybe even next time
The day after the election is the soonest you can make that statement with any certainty. Until then its just speculation that is counter productive to free markets and individual liberty.
But I know what Hillary is going to do. Given the horror show she will bestow on us, its hard to imagine something worse (maybe bernie sanders or elizabeth warren)
And you are actually going to believe the Wall Street Journal? cough Nice to see the WSJ has your complete confidence and faith in honest unbiased journalism.
Maybe Trump. He just says it like it is. See how the bought establishment hates him. I say the more he is hated by establishment people, the more I think he would be good for us all.
Certainly not Hillary with her 250+million backing from wall street people.
That is indeed the argument for him. He isn't helping his case any with the way he has addressed some issues lately, the sheeple do not do well with someone who speaks his mind, even if a little disjointed. I also found this was from 2012 or 2011, and this guy has since quit the business and moved to California, to pursue hydroponic farms where vets are hired and they help them move back to civilian life.
