This portrayal of men and fathers as idiots has been going on for a long time, and I do believe it's part of the progressive mindset which feels it needs to overcompensate for perceived sins of preference (their annoying obsession of assuming bigotted preference in absolutely every situation, even and especially those in which preference played no role.)

I am convinced that, at the end of the day, the progressives are railing against hardcoded human nature which they must overthrown because it does not fit their utopian aspirations.
More on that for another thread if anyone is interested.

However, to claim that there is no gender agenda in the academia which has trickled down to the mandatory public indoctrination centers, is willful denial at best.

My proof: these gender-in-academia activists have even thought it necessary to overthrown our grammatical impersonal pronouns: she/her/hers preferred to he/him/his or they/them/their or one/one/one's.

It is so distracting when reading an article in which this gender agenda game is played that I refuse to further read any piece which employs it: I was reading the piece for the thesis, not for a gender agenda which was more important to the author than their thesis.

Perhaps these comments are slightly off topic, but I believe that they are tangentially relevant.

      Hello Eudaimonia,
I remember deciding I had had enough and could no longer watch sitcoms after “Roseanne” or “Home improvement” because men were always the brunt of the jokes. They were always portrayed as bumbling idiots. It became apparent that it was not politically correct at the time to make fun of anyone but white males… I have not watched many sitcoms since due to this, but hope things have changed…
      Regards,
      O.A.

In Brave, it was set in a Scottish Culture before the conversion to christianity. The act of the men as hunters and fighting over the main characters hand for the kingdom accurately portrays their culture. In the school environment, I see many males in AP classes and gifted classes as well as many males graduating. Many who do not graduate have some other element influencing the decision to drop out such as enlistment or their economic standing. I have never seen any type of gender discrimination in the schools I have been to and am currently in. To further back this up in my AP psychology class there are about 8 girls and 13 boys, the top of our class is comprised of mostly males, out of our 4 merit scholar qualifiers 2 or 3 are male, our honor societies are mostly males, when debating successful and well educated teams they are mostly male, and our debate officers are mostly male with the exception of the treasurer. Males are not being left behind in schools or television. In television there are now more shows (that teenagers actually watch) where a male is shown as strong and intelligent and they also have a strong female character - such as White Collar, Burn Notice, and Breaking Bad. As for children's shows there are ones that support the intelligence and growth of males such as Fineas and Pherb. If more kids are getting suspension or dropping out, there is always more than one variable playing a factor that should be taken into account. This article seems to me to be quite frankly wrong but, that is my opinion from what I see in America's school system currently as I am in it everyday.
