Back in the 70s there was girl I dated who started to smoke pot. In fact, she did not want to do anything else save for staying home..
I watched her turn into a completely different person within two weeks.
Previously I had really gotten to like her, but now she got so dull and freaking boring I went looking for other fish in the sea. .
Later I heard she got raped by her drug dealer.

My stance on brews is that if you are not absolutely perfectly clean, bacteria is introduced during the 6 week fermentation process, feed that to someone that is unsuspecting and it can kill them. Letting Joe-Blow randomly brew some beer up and sell to strangers makes no sense. I don't have a problem with the health department ensuring their processes and cleanliness are fine. Generally, you can't make cookies in the kitchen with cats running across the counter either.

I've had food-borne illness too often traveling in other countries, etc.. no need for that shit here to placate someones desire for unlimited freedoms. It comes down to the rights of others and the public (to not be poisoned).

I'll grant this much: end users have a desire to avoid waste. But the neo-Luddite AGW alarmists concern themselves with more than mere waste. They regard any economic activity at all, especially if it involves fossil fuel use at any level, as contributing to a planet-wide disaster--if I may use an ancient term, a cataclysm--a Mother of All Storms. How does humoring such people comport with free-market philosophy?

I"m more of the mindset that they get nothing if they choose that lifestyle, prison for depriving someone else of their civil rights (which is normally the outcome when they run out of money to get their drugs with) - break into someone's house, go to jail, I don't care about the 'motivation'. Break into the wrong person's house when they are home, problem is solved anyway.

I'm not in favor of using tax dollars to the tune of $150,000 to $300,000 a year to put them in 'treatment' either. The best medicine seems to be hitting rock-bottom, homeless, no family left, etc.

Other than that, good for California. They had to stop imprisoning them because of overcrowding. Other states do imprison them. Further, there are still a lot of people being imprisoned for possession over more the just a little weed. And, is it better to imprison a heroin user, or put them into treatment? I'll bet treatment is cheaper.
I'm not condoning drugs at all. But, the fact is, whatever someone wants to shoot, snort, smoke, rub into there belly, or put up their butt is no ones business as long as they don't infringe on someone else's liberties. At least admit the war on drugs has failed and is a waste of our tax dollars.
