USA Becomes Less Violent With More Gun Ownership

Roughly seven years ago, I entered a gun shop and saw a full-sized cardboard figure of a smiling Obama that came with a sign that said "WHY YOU NEED TO BUY A GUN NOW!."
As I recall, Obama said he was not going to grab guns but many did not trust a POTUS who has proven to be a Liar-In-Chief in many other ways. His early on "clinging to their guns and Bibles" criticism of many conservative Americans seemed to posses the alarming buzz of a rattlesnake's rattle.
Now we have Candidate Hillary making a way more direct and louder noise about grabbing guns.
So it would seem to me that America is going to become even safer due to an even greater increase in gun sales, according to the article I have provided a link to,
Well, I fear we'll only be safer momentarily.
What happens after a President Hitlery appoints enough radical left Supreme Court justices to nullify the Second Amendment with a demand for all citizens to surrender their firearms?

Fortunately after a lifetime of accumulating, 3 gun safes just isn't enough room for the collection and I've been drawing up plans to convert a spare room into a walk-in safe of sorts (without looking like it), using a magnet lock for the transparency. Unfortunately the wife isn't buying-into the idea of a kick-proof door or reinforcing the exterior wall from the inside. Thus... the plans will need to go on hold until we retire to Southern Idaho in a few years, but rest assured, the back-hoe is going to build a walk-in safe/cache below-grade in the barn or something.

My wife used to be a lefty anti-gunner when we first met, I took her shooting one afternoon, she was trembling with tears streaming down her face when she first fired the AR15, then after ripping through a few magazines she couldn't get enough of it. She seems to like the Glock the best, hates my high-powered rifles, but even likes my AK somewhat (its kind of heavy for her). She definitely is 1000% in favor of the 'America's Gun' concept of the AR15 though, she even brags about it to her lefty govie friends that look at her like she's from another planet.

Retired state worker me is not as wealthy as you evidently are. I've been thinking of burying one of my pistols in the woods behind my home.
It will be unloaded with loaded clips plus extra ammo buried somewhere else with both site not appearing to be freshly dug.

I have an excellent income, though I'm also a 3rd generation collector, there is an accumulation effect.

I wouldn't recommend burying them in the dirt, you would not likely find them in an emergency, serves no purpose of not accessible, and the elements would do serious damage, probably rendering them inoperable. My dad had a habit of poor maintenance, he didn't really ever fire many of them so he assumed they were fine. Even storage in a finished basement in an old wood cabinet damaged several beyond reasonable economic cost for repair.

If I could dip my military and vintage stuff in cosmoline I would, as it is I clean/lube/oil twice a year on all of them and make some judgements on which ones to let go at the same time. I like to hunt in Canada for example, so I'm starting to just get rid of semi auto hunting rifles in favor of fewer / better bolt-actions. I can't take a semi-auto across the border and only limited hunting opportunity where I live.

Gun safes are required by law here, burying or hiding would be a felony (on each incident actually).

Sounds like they should redefine "gun safe". Hard to get "safer" than buried. Not available to be used in anger or be used accidentally by a child. Not very useful to the owner either, which is probably one of the government requirements.
          Condolences on your enslavement, scoj.
I heard discussions years ago about air/water tight cylinders for burying rifles coated in grease, but don't know anyone who admits doing so.

Heck, I'd put them in box or something after wrapping them up with something waterproof.
I'm thinking of the doorbell ringing by armed gun-grabbers who also have the back door covered.
If they take all the guns I have in my home and car and I'm still free ("free" a relatively term now) and alive, I know where I'll be taking a shovel..

You would have to be monumentally stupid to even discuss such a thing openly. That alone shows 'intent.' One of the older definitions of a crime is the joint union of the act and the intent. One of most curious and comical things is people who prattle about such subjects but said nothng about losing their civil rights especially the last turn of the screw on 31 December 2015 and worse the same on'e s talk about voting one of the two evils back into office. As for burying how deep underground can the best detectors get results? The location would have to be somewhere that allowed hours if not days of digging for the recovery phase. The only worthwhile caliber to have is the caliber commonly used by the other side. They are your quartermaster. Cosmoline the old preservtive and any of the newer one's take a long time to clean off. Gasoline is the best solvent for that. I rather like the idea of storing at my neighbors house. That way i can get something rather rapidly and he can blame it on a break in.

If I were doing that, I'd put the gun in a ziploc, then in a case, preferably one with no metal parts, and bury it at least 6 feet under, so an adversary would need more than a metal detector to find it. That also gives you fairly good protection from the elements and from accidental damage, even if some utility installer goes digging in the wrong place.

Thanks for the heads up on a metal detector.
Blue meanies just may do metal detector sweeps of lawns, gardens and woods behind houses.
Maybe I can think up something even sneakier.
Also, there's a virtual forest one house down from my residence on a dead end street.

We just moved Feb 1st from Redmond WA (libtard town, near Microsoft) to Eastern Washington (Nine Mile Falls, practically all conservatives). Our house came with a concrete and steel walk in vault about 3-1/2 ft by 9-1/2 feet. I've just insulated it as it's downstairs and basically built in the dirt. I'm in the process of putting up Slot Wall to be able to hang my collection. I found out that the majority of homes here have similar vaults and practically everyone owns at least a few arms. Most have an AR-15 or two, perhaps an AK, and some of us even a Thompson (legal version semi-auto, of course). These are three of my favorites from my Vietnam days.

One of my other favorite arms is a documented Colt/Iver Johnson Single Action Army Buntline Revolver from the Robert Peterson-Hollywood Stembridge Movie Gun Collection. A .45 caliber, 12 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and rear ladder sight. Blued finish barrel and cylinder. Case-hardened frame. Brass trigger guard, Smooth walnut grips. I have a copy of the catalog from 2007 Little Johns Auction where this gun was originally described and pictured. According to consignor, Mr. Stembridge, this gun was used in a Clint Eastwood/"Lee" Van Cleef Western. I had to have a special holster and belt made for it as I could not find one that would fit. I got a lot questions, and a few comments, when I wore it once to Redmond Derby Days. When asked if it was loaded, my reply was always "Of course, why would anyone carry an unloaded pistol?" It still makes me laugh.

I'm looking at Southern Idaho myself, we're about 6 years away from retirement and then the door won't hit us in the ass on the way out of California. Kind of looking at Pocatello actually.

Southern Idaho has some very nice country. And generally good people. There are corners in SE Idaho that are amazing. Northern Utah the same, Northern Nevada and western Wyoming the same (minus Jackson Hole - abode of the elites).

IF you can handle the LDS effect. I have not had a problem with it in my area in far northeastern Nevada, but that's OK, I am a not a religico, I hold my own against any of that - and with grudging respect from those that try to convert me. Shoot, 40 years ago, the Moonies tried extra hard to convert me because I argued against their case so well. They admitted it.

The LDS folks don't bother me, I'm Catholic and one of my best friends is Mormon actually, we have this outstanding rule, I can ask him any question I want about Mormon stuff and he can ask me anything he wants about Catholic stuff.

We did a short trip through Pocatello area a few years ago on the way to Yellowstone, planning about a 10 day trip next summer to take a closer look around.

Sounds like a good arrangement. I entertain other viewpoints and when appropriate, respectfully disagree without animosity.

There are a lot of outlying areas around Pocatello as well, all the way up towards Dubois, Driggs area, or Soda Springs area to the southeast. All of it nice country. Good people as a whole.

I have a friend who used to work closely with homeland security. We where discussing the issue of gun bans in the US not long ago and he told me that as of two years ago, homeland security put plan in place to remove all registered firearms from the american people.

Yikes! Thanks for the heads up.
My next thought about that is how that would work with Obama contriving some emergency to impose martial law and a third term to, say, keep an elected or about to be elected President Trump from dismantling the Narcissist-In-Chief's precious legacy.

The military would have to openly violate it's oath of office to comply which makes it an illegal revolution. If they upheld their oath of office as things stand now it would be a legal counter-revolution Since they aren't Lightning Boy's best friends such an invitation might be ostensibly accepted up until the time the handcuffs went on --Obummer.

His true nature and supposed new house close at hand to the both the Congress and the Oval Office I would suspect him to offer himself as an expert consultant on things such as why was the budget the new administration gets was set up the way it was. Michelle Antoinette the the same as a paid adviser on 'becoming a Lady." These are one grasping greedy bunch of people in the non-Randian sense. Witness his trying to get Presidential retirement raised.

If the military generals forgot that oath, there are millions of (government defined) domestic terrorists aka patriots who would remind them of it ... forcefully, if necessary. Many of those would be ex-military and active military.

I'm thinking homes in my Birmingham area will be searched to confiscate guns followed by swarms of emboldened youth gangs kicking their way in to steal and do all manner of harm.

Oklahoma or Texas. Much more gun friendly, and are moving on correcting abusive laws on bladed weapons as well. OK now permits carry of switchblades, and by November, sword canes will also be permitted. Next we're working on martial arts weapons.

Unfortunately if it comes down to Oklahoma or Texas, it will be far too late. When legislation starts to pass we've got to act immediately.

The Washington Gun Rights Measure, Initiative 591 was on the November 4, 2014 ballot in the state of Washington as an Initiative to the Legislature, where it was defeated. Had it been approved by voters, the measure would have prevented the government from confiscating firearms without due process and implementing background checks unless a federal standard is established. The part that astounds me is that the NRA didn't even bother to help us on this one. The law now makes it illegal to openly trade arms or even use or handle someone elses gun without breaking the law. How far will this go, a little at a time? This is the only truth I see out Hillary, she says she will do everything in her power to take them away from law abiding citizens.

I gave up on the NRA 20 years ago when they failed to acknowledge the Lopez decision.

NRA, like many advocacy groups for various causes, actually do not want a clear resolution. They would be out of their well funded jobs.

I recently purchased a slightly used 357 mag. revolver. It was well taken care of, works great, and I didn't go through the fol-der-rol that was necessary when I bought my brand new S&W 38. It didn't come with a trigger lock & key. It didn't come with an instruction book. It didn't come in a fancy box, BUT it shoots just fine, and with its 4" barrel is more accurate than my snub 38. If the Clinton person gets in they will have a hard time getting them away from this poor, weak, little old man.

Our totally volunteer military has to have a high percentage of personnel who come from families with guns.
So I doubt the typical G.I.. NCOs and officers included, would find it abhorrent to disarm mommy, daddy and assorted younger siblings, leaving them helpless to emboldened thugs.
The evil hag would have to turn to soulless tools within her alphabet soup of department and agencies.
Layabout Bernie supporters may become reignited by such a socialist cause. Just put them in special uniforms. A reddish purple for commie impassioned strikes me as a good color.

What you are trying to define is the difference between the military and what Obama has attempted to continue to build into a standard protective echelon aka Schutzstaffel. But any group who agrees to knowingly violate the bill of rights (probable cause replaced by 'suspicion of'' could not possibly have taken the same oath of office the rest of us are used to - the one in the Constitution. Are there such people. Yes and no lack of them. Just think of DOHS as it's now knwn DHS pronounced Diss as in disrespect the Constitution and the public and it is not a great leap to DISS or Directorate of Internal State Security.

The parallels are not ominous as the book stated they are more like in your face. Now who would be most likely to use that sort of thing or not. Start with all your socialists. Wow there went the whole slate of canddates as unacceptable. Diss that Government Party.

Those police forces you mentioned didn't just happen yesterday. In 1979 when I left the Panama Canal Zone and that police force was dismantled there were White House,, Washington DC, Bureau of Indian Affairs and the police forces of Puerto Rico, Guam etc. The latter had no powers outside their territory. on DC, WH, CZ and I think BIA. Now there are well over 30. Add that to the Department of Internal Security and with regrets some of the old line agencies such as ATF not well regarded and others that were well regarded it' still not enough to take on the military.

That's when Obama noted the former leader of DOHS statement of the military active and retired being a great danger to the country. That would be Jackboot Janet II Neapolitano if i have the spelling correct. Obama stated he wanted to build up DHS to be equal to or greater than in power than the military.

Now who are you going to vote for!

If you're looking for a rifle, I'd suggest investigating one of the old Mausers, pre-1898. Some of the 1895 Chilean ones have been re-barreled into 7.62 x 51 NATO, with the ammo more available than the original 7 mm. These old guns don't leave a paper trail, and still shoot incredibly accurately. I'm a proponent of shooting from cover, with as much distance between me and the opponent as possible. Even the old French Lebel or a Krag Jorgenson (the "Rough Riders" gun) put sizable bullets down range at over 2200 fps, and with the right scope and stock can become a potent sniper weapon.

Sometimes the obvious gets overlooked. If you dont know who has a gun or not, and who might flip out and use it, people are more likely to just settle problems quietly and peacefully instead of risking confrontation.

We need to set up an alert system, preferably with redundant means of communication in case they disable phones or the Internet. The point being that on the day the police start going house to house to collect guns, gun owners can be quickly notified in order to leave affected areas with their weapons and/or band together to resist. Because no individual or family is going to be in a position to say no when a squad of cops show up at his home.

Leftists support gun ownership. Every time they open their yaps sales go up.

But use Florida as an example. For a while the muggers targeted people with out of state plates or foreign accents.

That changed somewhat as more guns were bought by people seeking to be secure in their property, homes, and possessions and oh yes their lives.

What's the stat's on New YORK Siteee????

I don't think that is going to happen. First of all that way events are happening Hillary will probably be indited before the election. If the DNC decides to ruin the their party they'll chose Shotgun Biden to run in her stead. that could be a problem. Yet, he's not the brightest bulb in the DNC stable.
I don't think that all the Liberal muffin headed fluffy bunny Democrats realize if there is any attempt to nullify the 2nd Amendment will culminate in a disaster for this country. Gun owners will not give up there guns quietly. Not here in Arizona. Many gun owners here will join and or create their own Militia's to stop confiscation. But there be a huge movement to secede from the Union. This time it many other states will join and it could be the end of the USA.
