    Well written. Jefferson's observation
"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine."
Sadly, we have arrived whether the Amnesty bill is passed or not.

I don’t like it. I have a hard time having an objective opinion on this topic given the current political and social climate.. We use to be a nation of laws, When we granted amnesty to illegal aliens during the Reagan years, we were dealing with three million. Now we are dealing with over twelve million? Are we better off for the thirty years of traffic? I don’t think so. This is the first time in my lifetime that the next generation is looking at a decline of living standards. Fix the border. The government first responsibility to it’s citizens is to protect from foreign invaders. Once the fence and all the gizmos and protective measures are in place, then let’s help those who are here become citizens without a lot of jumping through hoops. I just don’t think we are encouraging integration with the mindless way we are doing it now.

It's all about buying votes to keep the ruling political class in power. The R's are gong to try and buy away some of the votes the D's already paid for.

It's the free benefits that are the problem. The lost jobs and the cash going south are a problem. The uninsured vehicle accidents are a problem. The main problem is all the free benefits.

Politically for the GOP: not good. The voting power of these illegals will mark the end of any conservative election wins, especially on a state level in the West. The national level will probably also go that way, given the Electoral College format.

As for the nation, my take is about the same. Here's why....

They are already here, and in many cases, working. Most are not paying Federal taxes, even though the Left claims otherwise. From personal experience on construction projects, they are paid in cash, and most of this is sent south of the border to their families. Ross Perot had the sucking thing almost right: he talked about jobs, and it is actually money removed from our economy.

The dirty little secret is that the talking point of "they are doing jobs that Americans will not do" is just that--spin. Who was doing these jobs before we were overrun with illegals? You guessed it--Americans. And there are more than enough out of work Americans that would welcome the same opportunity to do the work.

The real kicker is that whatever restrictions are passed in the current Bills, such as no voting rights for X number of years, or no Federal benefits for X number of years, etc. are already being reconsidered as I type. Liberals will override these stipulations just as soon as the ink dries on the Bill. You can take that to the bank....

There is nothing positive for the Republic to proceed with this. It is better to plow along just as we are, than to legitimize the gang raping of this nation, and to legally open the doors to the extended families of these illegals. Oh, you missed that section of the amnesty bill?

Yes, the estimated number of amnesty eligible immigrants will more than double, since they will be able to import their families.
