Money Monster

This movie deals with the BBB. No, not the Better Business Bureau, but the Big Bad Businessman. Nuclear threats from North Korea and Iran, the Middle East on fire, Russia challenging the USA on world stages, America on the verge of bankruptcy, terrorism at home and abroad, but what do we really have to fear? Businessmen cheating their stockholders. The story is a thriller with sharp performances by George Clooney and Julia Roberts. Jack O'Connell does his best with a kind of Brooklyn accent that falters back to his UK roots now and then. Here's a very basic bare bones of the plot:
Clooney, a clownish TV money man is halted on air by a delivery man with a gun and a bomb jacket for Clooney to wear. He has lost everything on advice for the purchase of a stock by Clooney. The interaction between Clooney and Roberts steals the show from O'Connell even though they are only together for a few minutes. Toward the end the story as well as the action starts to fall apart slowing down to a ridiculous ending. Once again, who is the villain? "We have met the enemy and they is us." -- Walt Kelly

So obvious that it makes you wonder just how dumb are those who believe in the magical promises of the left.

There, the magic looks real. In our current political environment, the magic is gone and we're just watching a really terrible drama that's staged and rehearsed and stale.

    Sounds enjoyable.
I have a friend (Gads! Haven't seen him in in over 20 years, was a Federal Judge of Hispanic descent) has (had?) a place around Ensenada that cost him a pittance to keep up. When I lived in San Diego I went to visit him, but got lost and never made it there.

I haven't worn long pants in two years, my t shirts have holes and are are all white with no advertising. the most care I take is in shoe selection only from SFC or Shoes For Crews as I need the best for sometimes slippery decks. A gratuitous ad for a great product. i have four shirts I think with collars and buttons three Hawaii style and one latin guayabera and one pair of shorts that aren't cargo pocket for dress up occasions. No ties, no suits, none of that workaday stuff. I go to weddings, christenings, etc and mix in well.
Life except where the government gets involved ours, not theirs, is sweet.
I go back across the border twice a year when it's short pants weather for visa renewal and a bit of banking etc. business. Were it not for the visa's I would go not at all. What about the heat? That's why the invented AC.

That could kill the trend in business faster than being more subtle. Like faking fouls kills US acceptance of soccer.

Damn, Michael! I find myself in full agreement with you.
    How did that happen?
You've gone and made me want to re-watch that movie in order to listen more closely to the music.

It's going to be around for a while. Have you noticed that at the Red Carpet interviews, many of the guys have started wearing peacock tuxes. I wouldn't watch that stuff except that I'm a dirty old man who still likes to look at women. My BW will sometimes look at me while I'm looking at them and say, "I know what you're thinking." (Elderly type joke)

They also have health food, like an all veggie pizza.
Where you shop is not an argument worth having. Being a moderately house bound troglodyte, I rarely care about my appearance other than being clean and freshly laundered. As a result, my BW chides me when I wear jeans to a concert or whatever. If it is a big deal and she's all dressed up, I'll do slacks and a nice looking shirt. That's as far as I go. After all, it is Florida and I should be wearing shorts.

Yeah, I shop amazin' Amazon, especially on hard to find items. I don't know how many Gulchers like so-called classical music, but there is a site called Arkive that has a truly huge selection of music for the last 500 years or so, right up until the latest avant garde.

I'm with you, Herb7734. I shop "Wally-World" all the time. I usually find what I'm looking for and at the lowest price as well. Hey, I might even buy the DVD of this topic's movie when it lands in the $5 or $3.74 bin (never pay retail for a lefty Clooney). The only disappointment is Walmart won't sell you an Amazon gift card. At least not the ones near me. Like Thoritsu, I shop Amazon as well.

I shop on Amazon, in between chatting with you all. Better company, more comfortable, and healthier food (than hot dogs).

I can afford to shop at the upscale department stores. But I think you're wrong about the product quality. Take the $20 windbreaker jacket I referred to. It is fully lined. It has concealed zipper pockets within the pockets. I bought it 5 years ago and I'm not easy on clothes, being a slob and not all that conscious of what I'm wearing. Ditto pants. Ditto shirts. Ditto underwear. The people? C'mon, don't be a snob. Some are amusing, some are dumb, and some are erudite. But take a cross section of America and isn't that what you'd find? OK, not the upscale keeping-up-with-the-Joneses types.
At the Wal, you can get 5 pieces of clothing for what you'd pay for one, TVs for 20% less, and have a foot long hot dog before leaving. Heaven!
(When shopping at hoity-toity Nordstroms, I found items made in India and Sri Lanka, and good old Japan, and yes...even China.)

Oh, I just don't like the general low quality of the products there and almost 100% Chinese origin. Then there are the "Walmart People" of internet fame. Somehow, you just cannot find this concentration of Darwin-inspired carnivore lemming treats anywhere else.
