    First impression: Glib lacking gravitas.
But he's not as creepy as any major party candidate.
He could learn how to act presidential on the job.
He appears to be philosophically acceptable as long as he doesn't force pro-life vs pro-choice on anyone.
The feds have no constitutional responsibility on that issue.

I know Austin and have worked with him several times. He produced Judge Napolitano`s show on Fox and the judge speaks very highly of him - that speaks volumes. That said, I would not choose him as a presidential candidate, he simply does not, in my opinion, have the instincts required-FFA said it best "glib, lacking gravitas" that is accurate. He is a decent person who is very good at self promotion.

Government overreach is the major problem in my opinion. Therefore the 2nd Amendment is critical to saving our republic and the Supreme Court is our only hope for that. Therefore I will vote for someone who has a real chance of winning who I hope will appoint judges who are biased toward supporting the Constitution rather then (as Obama's appointees do) making it up as they go.

Apparently his positions match my 2012 Senate Campaign platform closely. That being the case I would necessarily support him should he secure the LP nomination at the convention this month.

Bumper sticker politician. He sounds like endless bumper stickers. He has no elected experience.
He's that annoying guy at the bar that just won't shut up.

But he's not an unacceptable choice as are those of the current single party system nor their supporters the enablers of socialist dogma. No he's one of us who won't shut up in the face of losing our country and our constitution to the nameless faceless socialists who mean us every harm."

And I haven't even looked the guy up yet. Just listened to one of the left wings enablers.

I'd vote for him, but I prefer Gary Johnson.
I've read Gary's books, I feel I know him, and he has a proven track record.
Austin has no books, and I really don't know him other than from the LP debates a few months ago. He just seemed to come on like a lot of Shine-Ola.

Thanks for the heads up. Objectivists have no political party and except for John Allisons superb books when he was more O than L and using CATO as a resource there's not much out of that camp. I thought they might be closed for the summer given the lack of activity and responses.

As I have corrected several people, Objectivists do indeed have a political party.

I would disagree in the major areas on promoting income tax as it is fascist in nature and replacing it with the fair tax or end user consumption tax as it is controlled by the population and their personal buying decisions. Coupled with a ban on deficit spending.

I see nothing beyond 2012 anything happening?

Then let me contribute this. "For some reason the Bonus Marchers of post World War I fame came to mind. One point both * and **** and I agreed was no more cannon fodder nor broken promises. Our former administrations and our citizens had been nothing if not scurrilous in their treatment of the military to say the least. It was Jimmy Peanut's spark that lit off our little Fourth Revolution but it was episodes like the Bonus March that has piled the fuel and prepared the fire.

I often wondered each year though what would happen if the veterans were pushed too far again. If the active duty troops absent a Constitution and accordingly with no binding oath that mattered decided and refused to be used against the veterans but sided with or even led them? For that reason I thought no one would dare get rid of the Constitution...."

        Were they wrong?
