This is another example of cops wielding too much power, and acting with a pack mentality. Who is hiring these people who clearly cannot be trusted with the power they've been given.

The video is interesting because the woman filming is narrating and reacting to what is taking place on the street in front of her. This is a travesty.

Maph, the current AG seems to have the same outlook that you express in your comment. Irrelevant until all facts are known.

The check your privilege statements are designed to chill a conversation, in my book ad hominems and really irritate the hell out of me. I did lots of cool things. I did them. It had nothing to do with race or sex.

    Check your PC language, Maph...

"The veteran is African American, and the cop is European American."

    FIFY, racist...

Sounds to me like he *was* in a literal, not potential, combat situation...

My brother in law is a detective and a very decent man but when you read so many terrible stories of cops over-reacting and abusing their power, you do become very leery of Police !

Sorry but I did. Ad hominem attacks do not further discussion. Maph 's remark was an attempt to stifle the discussion.

What!? Are you serious? Maph your reality check has bounced again. Where is your evidence to support this accusation? I'm not taking a point away in furtherance of the discussion.

I did not mark it down, but this seems like a hasty conclusion. Many people commit violent crime and police use excessive force without it being racially motivated. It's certainly possible that it was racially motivated, but we don't know. Maybe the police officer were itching for a confrontation for some other reason. Maybe they saw a driver of a similar car who committed a heinous crime recently. Maybe that had something personal against this guy. None of those are justified, but it doesn't have to be race. Maybe he threatened the officers in a way not shown on the video. My wild guess is they were quick to use force, not just b/c of race, but because of the general militarization of the police.

Ah, no wonder. The veteran is African American, and the cop is white. That explains it.

    Check your privilege, people.

The really interesting thing is he was being treated for PTSD. What if those cops caused him to basically shut down to all that was really in front of him, and cause him to think he was in a potential combat situation? This is a terrible thing. And entirely unnecessary...

All that for a front license plate which is a fixit ticket. I want the whole story. Why, unless he had a warrants would he resist arrest? Why would he be arrested for a missing front plate? Why all the cop cars for a routine traffic stop? Why?
