Trump VP selection - Presidential version of The Apprentice?

NOTE: I am not voting for Trump.

Eric Trump is talking with Greta van Susteren right now about VP selection. Eric says that the VP will be a tireless worker.

What am I curious about is how he will make the decision. Might he start a new version of ... The Apprentice? ;)

The Department of Education a.k.a. The Department of Dumbing Down America, is one of the biggest shams perpetuated against the American people in our most recent history. Our son was asked to take a multiple choice spelling test when he was 8 years old. No real teaching going on anymore. Just teaching to the the test. Outrageous!

As much as I love and respect everyone in the Gulch, it surprises me that most of you don't understand the thought of an "intercessor".

Sometimes... ( rarely but currently in great demand) ...
society needs a strong person to stop the bleeding before those who know what to do can step in and undo damage created by persons with an agenda against society and the culture.

I see a Trump presidency as an opportunity for Objectivists to impact the culture.

He is strong ... but "loosely woven" (so-to-speak).

I think that he will surround himself with the "right" people and NOW IS THE TIME for Leonard, Yaron and others to step up and direct the nation.

Frankly, I think that this is the vortex into the next dimension of individual rights that we have been waiting for.

"What IRS? Donald will abolish them..."

I'll believe that when I see it - especially how he has openly stated he supports higher taxes on the rich and government-sponsored healthcare.

There should NEVER be a female Secretary of State as long as mysogynistic Islam exists and is on the increase.
Our nation needs a strong male presence in that arena...preferably a warrior.

Seriously sad fun, this best of two horrible choices, will be like a real live version of "The Three Stooges," I'm a #NeverEverHillary. She would be the death of America, Trump we might survive, though it will be a constant, but he will take the Republican Party to its 1857 Founding, and hopefully kill K Street's Golden Goose.

Much better than the idiots Obama has appointed. Black skin is not a proper qualification for anything

What IRS? Donald will abolish them...flat tax all the way. Should have been done ages ago. Yes. I can definitely see either Dr. Paul overseeing that corrupt agency. Pass the popcorn, please!

Not that I disagree with Dr. Carson for Surgeon General, but we must be careful. Why are we putting Dr. Carson in a stereotypical box? He would be a great VP. He's the yin to Donald's yang. Calm, soft spoken, and with much wisdom. Condoleeza would also be a great VP. That said, the candidates on the Republican stage are really the A team and most likely all will have important cabinet positions. They mostly stand out from the status quo and will be important for shaping the Republican Party in the future. If the "old boys" in the party resist change, the party will fall and a new party will arise. That's the American way.

Absolutely, get rid of the Department of Education. It should never have been started in the first place. It serves only to promote social engineering in the schools.

If KT McFarland isn't secdef, then she should head state. However, Condoleeza might be better for state, but KT would be an excellent substitute. Allen West would also be good for secdef. We definitely need someone who'll gut the ridiculous rules of engagement currently in vogue. It might also be an excellent idea to scrap the dept. of education; let the states be laboratories for best practices, and if the dept. stays, let it merely be a clearinghouse, not an enforcer of what to do and how to do it.

Yes but he's a full time RINO so that just drives home the lesson that Trump is a left winger even more than his other announcements.

More exciting is the announcement that if Lynch doesn't want to be Lynched and release the evidence Hillary is going to the slammer.

Tradition would favor Kasich, as a popular governor of a key swing state, and an experienced member of the Newt Gingrich team that twisted slick Willie into a balanced budget. However, Trump is anything but conventional, so we could be in for some interesting times.

Christie would be a good pick for AG, as would Trey Gowdy. Florida is another key swing state, so Marco Rubio has an edge over Ted Cruz as a Latino VP.

What about female possibilities? You can see the anger in Fiorina's eyes directed at Trump, so that, combined with her lack of government experience counts her out, IMHO. Mary Fallin, Governor of Oklahoma, has been the chair of the governor's conference, a popular two term Governor, and a congressional representative. While OK isn't a swing state, being solidly "red", it is a key energy state, and she could help manage a revitalization of the U.S. energy profile, starting with the Keystone pipeline. The SC governor, Nikki Haley, shot herself out of a VP saddle, taking the anti-Trump position. Iowa Senator Joni Ernst has a military background, but has only served in the U.S. Senate since 2014. Arizona congressional representative Martha McSally was an A10 "Warthog" pilot and combat veteran, but very junior in Congress. New Mexico Governor Susanna Martinez would check the female and Hispanic blocks, but couldn't help with navigating the DC labyrinth. Forget Condy Rice - she wants to head up the NFL, having had her fill of DC.

Lots of other possibilities, like Indiana Governor Mike Pence, but a too-conservative VP might not help in a general election. There are some experienced figures who have great respect in the capitol environment, but aren't well-known public figures. Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions is reasonably conservative without being strident, and has enough of a public presence that he wouldn't be an unknown.

I suspect Trump, being the master of media suspense, will start a drip, drip campaign of likely candidates for his cabinet, holding off the VP until the right time to make the biggest impact.

He should choose Whatsisname, the first winner of The Apprentice who seems to be very successful , and then Incorporate the USA as a LLC. Turn the whole shebang into a business. That should even make the socialists happy since no business is a republic.

Agree! Get rid of the DHH. Dr. Carson would make a wonderful Surgeon General. I think that McFarland was in the Reagan administration. She appears on Fox News occasionally, and her comments are full of common sense.

I think that Trump really needs the Latino/Southern vote, and the two candidates that would make most sense for him in VP position would either be Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz.

Other smart picks for cabinet members:
    Sec. State: Carly Fiorina
    Attorney Gen.: Chris Christie
    Surgeon Gen.: Ben Carson
    Vet. Affairs: Allen West
    Sec. Treasury: John Kasich
    Sec. Labor: Rand Paul

I think Kasich has been trying for VP. I think he fell into the Cruz trap, but then Cruz screwed him over by picking Fiorina (typical Cruz trick). I have thought for a long time that Kasich would make a good VP actually. We will see what happens.

Cruz is definitely OUT for any job in a trump administration. He is a snake.

Treasury secretary would be one of the Pauls for sure.

Condoleeza Rice doesnt impress me at ALL. But Trump will pick a good person I am sure.

Chris Christie will be in his administration somewhere. He speaks his mind and that is good.

Since it's between Trump and Hillary, I'm for Trump. Non-action is a choice, so from my point of view non-voting is a vote for Hillary. That's how we got Obama again last elections, by republicans not voting.
There are many good VP possibilities, but I keep thinking Newt.
    Allan West at Veterans Administration
    Cristie as Attorney General (awesome!)
Supreme Court Justice Ted Cruz, but he doesn't have Judge experience. Even still I think he would be good at it.
    Health and Human Services, Carson
Rubio and Kasich would be good in the administration too. And there are many cabinet positions that can be filled by non-political types which would be my preference..

Running the White House like the Apprentice show might be refreshing for a change as opposed to the good old boy system of lifelong career politicians.
