An excellent use of 30 minutes.

Here is some background on former BLM director Shae:
Well, Shea was Chairman of the Utah Democratic Party before serving for a year as the Director of the BLM, and he did chair the Utah state presidential campaigns of Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, and Bill Clinton, all of which provided him with vast knowledge of public lands policy we’re sure.

And Shea received his bachelor's degree from elite Stanford University. He then was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University and he received his law degree from another elite university; Harvard Law School. So there’s no doubt Pat Shea is an intelligent – if not very smart – guy.

I agree that he is a well educated guy, intelligence is another matter entirely. Notice how he avoided the question of the equal footing doctrine and how he did everything he could to avoid having to defend the Governments dubious claims to the majority of the land it holds out west. The reason being this guy is a big government guy (not to mention a big guy period), he has built his career around Federal Government power and expansion. I would have denied his request for a debate at a venue of his choosing and instead asked him for a debate held onsite at some of the disputed federal lands. Let the people who live near them and make use of them have their voices heard, not the voices of so called "intellectuals" who have not and will not leave the cities in favor of the range.
