Will ObamaCare Be the Last Straw?

ObamaCare may be the answer to Libertarians’ prayers, even those who are atheists or agnostics. The delayed implementation of the employer mandate, assuming its blatant disregard of the plain wording of the Affordable Care Act survives court challenges, only confirms that the legislation’s attempt to replace markets with political and bureaucratic diktat cannot and will not work. It will turn two preexisting fissures into yawning gulfs: between the competent and the incompetent, and the young and the old, and it might finally provoke a backlash against the religiously held, impervious-to-facts-logic-or-experience belief that government knows best...

...When the scales fall from their eyes, when the next generation discovers they have nothing to lose but their chains, it may be the last, best hope for freedom in the United States. Having misdiagnosed shortcomings in the provision of medical care as market failure, rather than as the result of decades of government intervention, ObamaCare prescribes more of the same expensive and deadly medicine and youth gets stuck with an appreciable part of a tab they do not have the wherewithal to pay. To no one’s surprise, politicians and bureaucrats skilled in the arts of prevarication, sucking up, image management, position shifting, strategic partying, and press relations will stand revealed as utterly incapable of commanding and controlling one of the economy’s largest and most complex sectors. As ObamaCare collapses of its own weight, if the vast majority of Americans does not challenge and oppose the relentless, century-long expansion of the government’s size and power, it never will, and a once great country will be little more than ruins.

Pretty well put, and harrowing to contemplate.

My fear is that when the health care industry 'crashes and burns', many important facets will be lost in the rubble...never to return.
