Your contribution to an Atlantis society

Earlier this AM, I made a couple of comments.

1) For 1%er's like us, our portion of America's
debt is likely to be about $6 million based on
future government obligations and the fact that
the top 1% pay 40% of the taxes. A top 10%er's
portion of the debt is somewhere between
0.5 and 1 million dollars. Time to shrug.

2) Obama made the point several years ago that
America is not exceptional. He has succeeded
in fulfilling his own words. America could be
exceptional again, but Zenphamy and I agreed that
would be unlikely without a civil war. We agreed
regrettably that it was time to start planning
for our summer and winter sites for Atlantis.

Before any of us actually goes to a physical
Atlantis, there are obviously several logistics
that would be need to be worked out. A couple of
people and I said that without chocolate,
Atlantis wouldn't be that great a place. Hence,
we need a chocolatier, and actually got someone
to agree to such a position.

I would like to be the person who invents
biomedical devices that a Dr. Hendricks would
implant to improve our lives in our old age.
However, as someone who also has experience in
energy, chemical, and materials engineering, I
realize that may be a longer term goal.
Setting up a provisional trash-to-energy and
chemicals plant would be my first task in Atlantis.
I am sure that I would use some of my 3D printing
background to make rapid prototypes for our mechanical
engineers as well.

What I would like to see from this post is a list
of what you would like to do in a Galt's Gulch
society, along with a backup plan or two. As in
Atlas Shrugged, several Gulch citizens had plans
to put others out of business, so we would have
to be a little flexible :)

I can do #2, part of #3, #6 and I'm a better than average cook.(Notice I did NOT say chef. I make food, not cuisine.). I've also got the requisite tools and knowledge to be a pretty good carpenter and woodworker. Any thing there strike your fancy?

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.”

Such a society would need to have the following key elements from a skills perspective.

    1. Medical (doctoring and nursing).
    2. Supply Chain and Transportation (materials, sustenance, perishables).
    3. Defense (intelligence and physical)
    4. Funding/Treasury
    5. Engineering/Engineers ( will need several disciplines ).
    6. Administrative/Educational
    7. Communications/Telecommunications

Purchasing guns and learning to shoot is on the family's agenda for this summer. :)
I'm an adjunct business professor who dropped out of traditional academia to teach at a private college where I can teach students how to use reason to apply business principles. In the gulch I would wait tables to become a student of philosophy under Professor Danneskjold. Or his likely proxy.

Lol that would be fun. However I don't think we'd have a shortage of experienced gun handlers in the gulch. Maybe we could run the competitions. My husband used to compete. He has odd skills. Anything mountain man ish. I can cook. Lol not sure my talents will translate but I'm not a moocher and I'm goin'!! Maybe I need to figure out that chocolate problem...

That should be fun. All of us will need a little militia training if we are defend ourselves against the looters and moochers, I suppose.
