It looks like the book was actually used in this article, however took things stylized in fiction as the take home points for the book.

If I had more time and the inclination, I would go through this article and untangle the arguably valid criticisms from the invalid. However, it amounts to a fly swatting exercise and I've got better things to do. As with virtually all criticsms of Rand, I see nothing that passes for a rational critique of her philosophy, as delineated in Galt's speech. It is for that philosophy that I have read and reread Atlas Shrugged. As a writer, I respectfully part company with Maphesdus's assessement of AS as "beautiful poetry." Much of Rand's writing is turgid and repetitive, in my opinion, but that's a subjective point and there are a few passages of her writing I consider literature.

You are so very right. As a literary tome, it is quite lacking. As a passable novelization that embodies an economic, political, and moral philosophy, it is titanic. It is on par with "The Goal" by Eli Goldratt in that it is not good literature, but it is great as a method of conveying a message on how to evaluate a system for the weak link.

I think these are valid criticisms. Atlas Shrugged is an excellent story, and as a work of poetry, it's absolutely beautiful. But if it's supposed to be more than that, if it's supposed to be a blueprint for a moral code and a way of life, then the actions of the charterers need to be judged according to the standards of the real world. Otherwise it's just a story.
