apparently, Mr. Ferrell (whose acting I cannot stand) is making a movie lampooning Reagan in his Alzheimer stage. what a vile, unfunny, mean spirited little man. :(

The notion that Reagan had Alzheimer's in his 2nd term is ridiculous, no one in the world has better medical care than the POTUS. His diagnosis came 5 years after his service.

Ferrell was quick to abandon this project only because of the uproar against it. The PC that Hollywood espouses bites him in the ass.

The Reagan admin is revered by many, and he led and revitalized the military (busted the USSR) The economy had a revitalization during his presidency due to lower tax rates , a friendlier business climate he reigned in the unions. He was way tougher on the S and L scandal with 1000 convictions. Than the Justice dept of today's biased prosecutors.

I have a high standard for the POTUS and Reagan was a disappointment in my opinion. Better than any since. They aroused suspicion with a lack of transparency .Too many corrupt advisors, 21 convictions among them. He armed and radicalized OBL in Afghanistan. The Iran contra scandal. C I A Cocaine for weapons . His VP and the start of that Bush/Rove group dynasty. The education system pushed to a Pavlovian style continuing its downward flush. Wm Casey ugh. Their mysticism.

Not as many complaints as I would have for his predecessors though.

Agreed, completely tasteless and deserving of "all due respect." Its been open season on "conservative leaders" for some time. The disgusting insulting film about Margaret Thatcher precedes this one. (At least Thatcher was well acted, albeit politically motivated and insultingly written.)

That was so maddening. Even without the dementia crap, they spend 3/4 of an hour on how bad the economy was when she takes office (1-2 years) and then they spend 10 minutes on the 8 years in which the economy was the best GB had in the 20th century.

I lost my mother to Alzheimer's during 2006. It was horrible. Don't care to go into details.
I have four brothers and no sisters. Much respect goes to the sister-in-law who devoted much time to the care of my mother.
On the night of my mother's funeral my sister-in-law got drunk at an Italian restaurant.
Never saw her get like that before but it was just fine.
She had earned the right to do anything she wanted.
She was also there for my father when lung cancer took him last June.a day short of his 98th birthday,
No, she did not drink much at that funeral.

I hope he loses his ass on the venture and has to declare bankruptcy. Further, I hope that Hollywood has the good sense to shun any further work by him. (Probably not.)

I think a quick observation that needs highlighted is this--the whole touchy feely, hugging, snail loving, Hollywood left-the nice guys-Republicans are mean and catsup is a vegetable--that whole crowd still think it's ok to attack an individual because they hate his politics. There are few things less PC than Alzheimer's. Can you imagine the shrill, wailing, take to the streets, burn the F down crowd if the other side did something this mean spirited. What a bunch of hypocritical pr#$%@. Maybe use a whiner like Reid or Durbin-to front this.

Perfect response. These morons get famous and think their intellect grows proportionally to their bank account. Unfortunately, in Hollywood, the inverse is much more common.

Will Ferrell must already have brain issues, as his comedy is not funny, his acting questionable but his ego remains huge.Obviously, like his PC crowd, his compassion is selective. Perhaps he should make a movie about a Muslin who becomes president, does ntt know how many states are in the US, cannot pronounce "corp", has done cocaine, and likely is gay.and sets out to destroy the country he runs. Lot of material there. I dare you Will, go for one of your own for once.

The plot of the script was revealed yesterday. A person convinces Reagan in his dementia that he's just an actor playing the role of president. This not only denigrates Reagan, but whatever he accomplished during his second term. Excuse me, just writing this made me want to take a shower.

Thanks for the tip. Which reminds me how much government funding is he getting. Sounds like something NEA would support. Both of them.

Jesus. What a bunch of Politically Correct, triggered, SJW's we have here. Gone are the days when people had a sense of humor. A senile old person was a comic character for centuries until the PC crowd ruined art.

And Reagan shriveled in fear after Bush shot him and threatened his family. A better man would have arranged to kill that POS and made sure Cheney had an accident.

what? you are asserting that the Bush family attempted to murder Reagan. I am not PC. This concept was a politically motivated attack concept.

It isn't an assertion, read "Bush Crime Family".

If you are making the claim that a particular type of person is exempt from any form of caricature or mocking, then yes, that is political correctness to a tee.

I was hoping for a time that the film was intended to be an exposé into the horror that the families of Alz. patients suffer.

Personally, I don't find Ferrell funny at all. But people do change... or at least I had hoped.

Talk about PCness taken to extremes, even from Objectivists and conservatives. Doesn't anyone else see the ironic humor in a President that very probably suffered from a debilitating disease while in office and even while going through the early stages, was still lionized by conservatives? Didn't we all laugh about the SNL skits of Gerald Ford's stumbling and falling, about Bush's 'Read my lips', about Clinton and Lewinski's episodes in the Oval Office--all while they were still in office? But the heavens forbid that we should look at humor about Reagan and Alzheimers.

I can fully understand and empathize with Ms. Davis's dislike of satire and public humor about her dad and the disease that destroyed his later years, but come on--when we take on the same PCness that we so loudly decry from progressives, we no longer deserve to call ourselves Objectivists.

Alzheimers is a human condition, Presidents are human, and some of the things that humans do while suffering from Alzheimers is funny. When we can no longer laugh at ourselves, there's nothing left but to cry..

Who ever said it had anything to do with being PC? Such a movie is in very bad taste like much of what Hollywood calls "comedy" these days. Not all topics are suitable for comedy and I would put Alzheimer's disease near the top of the list along with cancer and rape.

This has nothing to do with PC. This is simply an attack- by whatever means- on a person that these POS progressives loathe with a passion! I don't see any connection between Alzheimer's and the SNL skits you mentioned. Those were clumsy, idiotic and pathetic- not life changing. There are some lines that are very dangerous to cross, like making fun of Alzheimer's victims. Go ahead and cross the line but be ready for the consequences. I do think we are so used to these Hollywood hypocrites doing whatever they want, that we are rarely so disgusted by their bad taste, that we protest it.

I don't laugh at cancer. I wouldn't laugh at a satire all about Kennedy's bad back or his assassination. I think we know very little about his last years in office. I can certainly stay true to Objectivist principles, say I don't appreciate that kind of humor and (which is mean-spirited at best) and encourage that a movie not be made because I won't buy. I stand by my earlier statements that politically speaking, the left can only attack when someone is weak. They could have made any number of funny films about Reagan when he was strong and I might appreciate them. One of my fav films is "Dick"
